That's it. Seen it so many times I just gloss over it. Knew it was to do with Arvel. Thanks.

Don't know if you played the first TR's, they had some interesting puzzles to say the least, but seriously, do you want to play a game where it holds your hand all the time, or a game that gives you some challenges, not that the challenges in Skyrim are actually that stressful, logic works out in the end.
I've been stumped a couple of times, but not often. I'm currently stuck in the Apocrypha in Dragonborn, but I'm sure when I go back to my save I'll find the solution, after thinking about it for a day.

After playing the Portal games, or Supraland -- there really isn't any puzzle that is more than first-grade-level challenging in Skyrim, compared to those. And I can't imagine trying to figure out something like Antichamber, which is -- from what I've heard -- as Souls-like™ as it gets when it comes to mind-bending puzzles.

And I'm with Heimdall. There were games on the Commodore 64, and even the NES, that had puzzled I never solved. Infocom games had some stupid hard puzzles. Activision had a game (two, actually) called "Hacker", that came with no instructions. A game called "Shadowgate" on the NES was, and probably still is, beyond my puzzling capabilities.

Skyrim's puzzles really are a joke, and they could have done better. At least in Morrowind they didn't give you fast travel and map markers showing you where to find the objects of your searches. Imagine how stupid Fargoth's Ring search would be if there was a marker on your compass pointing you to that tree stump. That's how dumb the puzzles are now.

Oh my god it's been so long since I thought of Fargoth...hate that little bastard.

But Rez, remember: you had to find that ring by yourself. No map-marker. No compass arrow. Just text in books and notes. I absolutely loved that most about Morrowind. You had to rely on your books, your notes and letters, and your journal.

No I remember, love Morriwind too just commenting in the fact I really didn't like Fargoth specifically, not his quest or anything, spying on him from atop the lighthouse is an interesting mechanic.

It was, I agree. That game was magical, and I think that was one of the first clues.

And just up the road, the wizard with the scroll of Icarian Flight. Pure genius.

Ya that is gold and on those rare clear days you can see him just floating up there if you're far enough away. I also remember using the scroll and realizing "Ah this is how he died."

Okay, I'll make an exception to the Skyrim puzzles being easy.

There is a Dwemer ruin on Solstheim called Fahlbtharz. That m'fer is a sonofabtch.

Pull your hair out type of puzzle.

The one that splits in two is told to you by the old guy.

Dragon age II perfected RPG play. but everyone has to be different and make dismall failures to attempt to fix something that wasnt broken.

nah they don't. I mean if that one bothered you then maybe you'll have a couple more that will as well but all in all the game is not about puzzles and certainly not a bunch of irritating ones.
