My Home is Your Home vs MHIYH 2Plus
What is the difference between My Home Is Your Home and MHIYH 2?

I plan on using a mod home (Elysium Estate) for much of this playthrough and I want Lydia to be able to actually guard where I live. Also someone has to watch the kids while I'm adventuring. :P

It's been a while, but IIRC, MHIYH 2+ gives you the option for both day and night work, day and night sleep, etc., vs day work/night sleep only in the original. You will probably want to avoid setting guard, as they tend to behave like bandits when you approach their camp, tell you to back off, and then attack followers, couriers, etc. 2+ also includes capacity for a lot more home assignments.

Before you choose, though, you might be interested in what NPC Party has to offer. It is still new, but over 1000 members, settle them when/where you please, set outfits (with no AFT-esque delay where you find them in their underwear) and dynamic AI packages that you set in the MCM. You can set time, activities, range they sandbox, individual beds, you name it.

Are they both safe to install and uninstall mid-playthrough?

My Home is Your Home (MHiYH 2plus) - SSE
https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/20227
is the latest and most up to date version of My Home is Your Home

jreese, if you are getting them behaving that way when you set them to guard, I would say that there is probably some conflict somewhere; have never seen that, even with all the mods I have. Not that it is a major issue; as you said, if it happens, just don't set them to guard

Almost nothing is safe to uninstall mid-playthrough. I was able to upgrade from MHIYH to 2+ without issue because, at the time, the file names were identical. I don't know if that's still the case. NPC Party is designed to steer clear of other follower/home frameworks. You shouldn't have a problem with both running, but you will definitely need to evict your homies from MHIYH before you can use NPC Party to settle them. Give the comments sections a read, before hand, as well.

Thank you, smr. I had it once, just changed their duties from guard to work, and never had any other issues. I can't say whether it would have been a one time issue or persistent.

You can install mods midplaythrough - you CANNOT disable/uninstall the vast majority though (and, in this case, no). See: http://steamcommunity.com/app/489830/discussions/0/1520386297681801135/

If you are not sure and want to test the mod, make a manual save before installing; then, if you decide not to use the mod, roll back to that save after uninstalling.

Looked up NPC party, but again I'm not entirely sure what the difference is. Also, the NPC cloning thing alarmed me a bit. Does that mean there will be two Lydias?

There can be if you decide you want there to be, but you would have to intentionally choose to clone her. I believe that was put in place for people who wanted a specific NPC as a follower, but didn't want to create game issues. The differences between NPC Party and MHIYH are vast, mainly in that NPC Party does both the job of a home/settler mod and a multifollower mod, along with multi-outfitting. You can make any NPC a member and/or follower, and you can settle over 1000 of them wherever you wish. Unlike some of the others, you can have up to 16 followers at a time, have them ride horses, summon them to you, have them wait, just like AFT or some of the other follower mods. The biggest difference is when you assign settlers, you actually can decide the specifics of the package. Instead of having to choose "work here 9-5, sleep there 10-6," you can set specific package to sandbox and use a slider to increase or decrease the area they will sandbox in. You can put a sleep marker next to a bed, set the radius to a low number, and they will use that bed. They can also throw out their own bedroll, and you can set their times individually.

There is an update in the works as well, as I understand, which will hopefully add in some of the other features similar to popular follower mods. I've been using it for a few months right now and, even though it's still new, it's a really outstanding mod.

So I can make it so that they can go in and out of the house as they please, but they'll stay on the property?

Also, will it clash with Convenient Horses?
jreese46 Feb 5, 2021 @ 5:27pm
They're still limited to the particular cell for the AI package, but you can change the distance outside or confine them to one room or the whole house inside. I don't think free roam in and out of another cell is yet possible in a single AI package, or I've never figured out how to do it, if it is.

I don't know about convenient horses. Never used it. With NPC Party alone, if I tell them to saddle up, horses spawn for them to ride. Never tried to tell them that when there's already a free horse nearby.
