rs children overhaul bugs
Hello,
I'm quite new to using MODS and find I really enjoy them....when they work. Right now I'm having a problem with the MOD "RS CHILDREN OVERHAUL". the children are encased in a giant red triangle. and at least one girl didn't have hair. I don't have any texture MODS installed (that I know of). I downloaded it late in a game but i started a new game just to see if the bug was there. It was. The kid in Helgen was encased. Is there a fix for this? Is it a load order problem? As I said I am new to this. Thanks for any suggestions you can offer.

Normally if characters are invisible, it means the meshes are in the wrong location, if you get the red or yellow triangle, the meshes are broken or incompatible, which happens when trying to use mods from Oldrim in a lot of cases, and when you see meshes but they're purple, that is a result of texture not loading, while black meshes are typically a shader issue.

That said, I've had no issue with RS Children, but I can't confirm any possible issues with children involving Helgen. I use Alternate Start and stay away from Helgen.

Sounds like the meshes and textures didn't get place in the /data file folder properly.

1st: Ensure your downloaded isn't corrupted.
2nd: Make sure the extracted files get placed in the proper places. ( I believe this is a .bsa but it's been awhile since I used it. )
3rd: Make sure no other mods are overwriting the files ( you just extracted )

And of course, make sure the plugin (.esm) is enabled.

How did you install your mods?
RS is hard to fail on
You may also have need of patches for other mods.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Is RS Children skeleton causing fps drops in SE? I still remember this glitch from LE.

So I got rid of the rs children mod and re downloaded it, the SE version. But now i can't playish...When I launch from Steam, I get an alert that says Frostfall is not working and i have to upgrade or uninstall. However, if I launch from my vortex manager there is no alert and all my mods are still active. But at least the children (at least the ones in Solitude) are free from their triangular prisons and their heads don't look like Mr. Potatohead. Or gender neutral potatohead toy whichever you decide. So thanks for the help on that. I just need to pay attention to the fine print. Just wondering if the notice from the steam launch will be a problem. I probably shouldn'r MOD unsupervised.

Do you have SKSE64 installed and run the game whit that?
If so you must start the game whit that and not whit steam or simple start the game from Vortex

yes, I have SKSE64 installed. That was actually the first mistake I made not loading it when I started using MODS. It seems to work when I star from vortex.

When you have SKSE64 installed, you never launch the game from Steam, you always launch from where ever your SKSE64 launcher is linked (I am assuming, of course, that SKSE64 is linked to launch via Vortex).

So, no, it should not matter what the Steam launcher is telling you.
