Dwemer Mechanical Parts vs Scrap/Objects
I've collected a bunch of these parts[levers, cogs, etc], scrap, objects....is it possible to assemble the parts into a 'mechanical object' such as I see overhead in some of these ruins? Or are all of these parts for Smelting and Selling?

No MODs in use...

They are just there to add variety and interest as regards the "junk" you find. Beyond smelting or selling, they have no use.

There is a College of Winterhold side quest that requires 10 Dwemer Cogs.
You get scrap metal, gears, cogs, dwemer gyroscopes and Centurion cores. This is not enough to build a dwemer automaton. You lack a frame, and a whole host of components (look at what's in a old clock and add a host of steam based plumbing)

At what level/skill Perk can you begin to Smelt the objects[not needed for Quest] and get Dwarven Ingots, a lot of which I found in a Storeroom, FTW!!!

Just got back from my Roamings and have a ton of stuff to Inventory and sift through, many Quest Items already in my backpack.

Closing my Session now and have no idea about Smelting the items, but I want to...

You can get a spider and sphere pet in Kagrumez but they don't require any dwarven stuff. Just smelt what you can down into ingots for smithing.

If you have the forgotten seasons stuff from the creation club, you can rebuild a Dwarven horse by finding the missing components. But those are specific parts, that you find in specific location.

You can smelt them at any level. But most of the trash like cogs, gyros, etc is just junk and can not be smelted.

Thanks, the Smelter told me what Dwemer parts could be smelt. Strange all the 'mechanical' parts can't be smelt and can't be assembled....go figure. I could easily see a Mechanical Device being made from all the Dwarven worked parts...ahem.

Great fun scouring the Land, looting all that I can find.
