Enhanced lights and effects breaks the game
I downloaded enhanced lights and effects from nexus, and its looks incredible, but its plaguing my game with bugs of all kinds. first of all, yes, i have narrowed this down to just ELFX. none of the other addons to it either (hardcore, enhancer, ect.), i tested it, and its just ELFX causing these. in certain places, it just straight up deletes some walls or floors or other random stuff. this is the worst in Windhelm and fort Dawnguard. in Windhelm, at least 90% of the outdoor walls are just gone, leaving behind doors, floating icicles, ect. In fort Dawnguard, the entire ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ floor is missing and i cant go inside it without falling into the infinite abyss. This is also in other places but to a lesser degree, such as in the bee and the barb, one of the walls and floors are gone, causing items to infinitely fall down and then teleport back up. And in castle volkihar, the whole floor in the blacksmith area is gone. Theres also this annoying bug with the weather, where i suddenly get bombarded with the most god-awful particles. i dont even know how to explain it, its just horrendous. everywhere i look theres just these extremely bright white rectangles with purple edges covering the entire screen. it hurts my eyes, ruins my immersion, and i have to wait 24-48 hours in-game for it to pass. I disabled the "ELFX weather" mod and i havent seen it since though, but it still sucks that i cant use it. i have no idea why its doing this. it did it on two seperate computers, and i have uninstalled and reinstalled it countless times, i cant find anything about it on the internet, so this is my final attempt, please for the love of god somebody help me with this.

(Havent gotten a screenshot of the weather bug yet, i will when i can though)

First I would say don't use the Weather option in ELFX. I certainly don't. Use a weather mod instead and only use the interiors option. You can use the Enhancer with the Interiors.

Second there are a few mods that correct some of the ELFX bugs of which I use as well.

If you look under the lighting section of my SSE modding Guide you'll see the setup I suggest:

I see you posted my guide in your post. But if you are following my guide then you set it up incorrectly. I don't use the Full version of ELFX in the guide. You'll see the guide uses a weather mod I include in the guide.

Ill give ELFX fixes a go and then report back. Thank you for responding so quick too.

ELFX Fixes does nothing about it unfortunately. any other ideas?

There is a conflict with your mods somewhere. Try to install ELFX only without anything else, make sure it's installed correctly and see if it works. If it doesn't, your downloaded file might be broken. I used it with everything it offers both in Oldrim and SSE and had no issues with it. Pay attention to your loadorder too. If I remember correctly ELFX should be the last plugin to load and it's generally incompatible with anything that alters any type of cell without a comp. patch.

First - it's more than just ELFX Fixes. There are other patches listed which don't pertain to your issue however should also be included in an ELFX setup.

But as said by Lil Kennedy you have a conflict which you should not have if you followed the guide and that means not adding additional mods outside the scope of the guide unless they are added carefully which means reading all information included compatibility with other mods, patches and load order.

ELFX does not need to be loaded last.

Did you add for example a weather mod? Again, the guide does not use the full version of ELFX. This allows a separate weather mod to be used. You cannot use the full version of ELFX along with a weather mod.

I'm not even sure if you are using the guide you listed. But if you are and you follow it you will have the same result as thousands of others who have used the guide.

Posting your load order would help us see what you are working with.

Loot keeps a copy you can access but looking in the upper right hand corner of Loot then by using the 3 vertical dots you'll be able to copy & paste it here.

Vortex also keeps a copy:
You can find it here: C:\Users\[your name]\AppData\Local\Skyrim Special Edition\loadorder.txt
AND/OR: While in Vortex / while in the "Mods" section / up top choose "Open" (folder icon) / choose "Open Game Application Data Folder" / you'll see "loadorder.txt"

When i said "ive tested it" i meant i tested it so that ELFX was the only mod active and i still had the issues, i probably shoudlve put that in my post though, so its my fault.
also im done with trying to get the weather to work properly so ill just stick with normal ELFX and the enhancer for now, and use vanilla weather. I never even listed a guide in my post so i have no idea what your talking about either, i just listed a bunch of screenshots of windhelm

Sure ELFX used with it's Enhancer and vanilla weather should work fine.

However if you want a Weather mod you would have to only use the interior portion of ELFX and it is designed to work fine.

Looks like you have your setup now.

As far as the guide is concerned I could have sworn I saw that in your post but I obviously was wrong.

Sounds like you worked it all out. All's well that ends well.
Kikithegreen Oct 9, 2021 @ 4:59pm
I have the weather worked out but i still have issues with ELFX deleting random walls and floors, such as in the screenshots
Vlad 254 Oct 9, 2021 @ 5:58pm
Load order issues on your end. And if it's happening in a Vanilla game then you should verify integrity of your SSE game files from your Steam Library.
Kikithegreen Oct 9, 2021 @ 6:52pm
again, i have tested it with only ELFX enabled and still have the issues, so how can it be load order issues?
Kikithegreen Oct 9, 2021 @ 6:52pm
also it doesnt happen without ELFX so its not an issue with the vanilla files
Vlad 254 Oct 9, 2021 @ 6:58pm
Never heard this problem on a vanilla game before.

out of curiosity did you try with other lighting mods?

Make sure you are using the SE version (just in case)

Otherwise do a "Clean Vanilla Reinstall" of your game instead of a simple reinstall.
Follow this video to the letter.
