A vocal group hate it, but the steam charts tend to show a rather steady sale of the credits so... seems to be acceptable to many more than complain.
For me, I don't mind the concept of it. People put in a lot of time, to make things to entertain me. I'm thankful when it's free, but I would gladly pay a reasonable price for something that interested me. That being said, there hasn't been anything on CC yet, which has interested me enough to pay for it. The few I have came free, during one special offer event or another. I still check it from time to time, though it seems to me almost anything I want can be had from Nexus for free.
What I object to is the forced update process that causes problems for my existing mods. While I can (usually) stop the updates from happening until I'm ready, and I can keep copies of the .exe to nullify the update if I get one I wasn't expecting, I still then have to wait for SKSE to update, and then for any of the mods, which depend on SKSE being updated, to be updated. If a mod author moves on to other pursuits, then I am faced with having to remove the mod which means a new game, and it makes it very difficult to continue a long term game and avoid having to build all over again.
Cue the Bethesda cheerleaders to remind us the company has no legal or contractual obligation to protect our 3rd party modding, and that's true, but just because you can do something, it doesn't mean you should. What it boils down to, for me, is you told me I could mod. You released the tools so I could mod. I'm modding, and now you're breaking my mods regularly to load things I may or may not want to buy.
(Yes, little Johnny. I told you you could have the family car when you graduated, and I haven't taken it away from you, but I'm under no obligation to stop flattening the tires, pulling the battery out...)
Now, whether this is a tactic to make modding elsewhere so inconvenient as to increase use of the CC, or whether it's just the only way they can make CC content available to console players, or any point in between, I don't know. I don't have enough information to even speculate, but what I do know is I bought the game, I engaged in legitimate modding as they said I could, and now their CC causes me repeated frustration. Perhaps not the best business model, but I guess they make enough money not to care.
I suspect, if they had spent the time to find a way to make CC available to people, in terms of "if I want it, I know where to go and get it," there may not be anywhere near as much negativity toward CC. Of course, there will always remain the crowd who feels that they are owed free entertainment and that mod authors should forego their lives and bills to provide it, but that's another story.
Some of things are even on nexusmods. Some of the things were on nexusmods before the creation club.
Theres just nothing on the creation club that i cant get off nexusmods. Sure maybe theres an armor thats only on creationclub.
Theres hundreds of armor mods on nexusmods.com that blows them out of the water. Same with anything on the creation club. Anything on there you can get off nexus.
If I was stuck with a console, I would probably use CC.
It is not too bad to get some of the Creations for free every now and then since one of my favorite modded followers, Lucien Flavius, has some amusing commentary on a few of said Creations.
They regularly offer stuff for free
For PC players there is no need to buy CCs unless it is something particular you want
You forgot to consider words like :
Ego
Delusion
Assumptions
And things like :
Appeal to authority
No true scottsman
among others...
