FPS issue
I have a 165hz monitor. Anyone with a 144hz + monitor can tell you that playing a game capped at 60fps is eye torture. Everything is chunky and blocky

Is there a way to increase the fps cap in Skyrim?

Another thing I've noticed is the game launcher didnt detect my gpu (3060 ti), and the option to change aspect ratio is locked on 16:9 borderless. I can't select full screen, I dont know how to fix this. I went to Skyrim's game files and changed "bBorderless" and "bFull Screen" on "SkyrimPrefs" file, but when I launch the game these options go back to default

Changing FPS cap on Nvidia control panel doesnt work. Disabling Vsync also has no effect

No, it's supposed to be capped at 60 or physics won't work right in game

I can't relate

Try SSE Display Tweaks, but everyone with enough knowledge will tell you that playing at higher than 60 FPS might cause issues. It's just how the engine calculates stuff.

Setting bBorderless=0 and bFull Screen=1 should do the thing. If you're using a mod manager such as Mod Organizer, the INI files are in a different location and those inside My Documents get overwritten therefore won't work. In MO they're inside profiles folder. In other managers idk.
SSE Display Tweaks should cover display options as well, though I'm not sure since I do not use it.
Just don't do It, trying to unlock fps with a game designed to be played on 60 fps will give y a terrible experience. I use 240hz monitor and I play skyrim on 60fps and I can't see a difference because It's a story game, my eyes Isn't bleeding.
Got a 4K G-Sync 144 hz HDR monitor myself and I still play SSE at 60 fps, on a RTX 3080 OC, and it does not bother me at all, fps over 60 is only useful for shooter games online, for a game like Skyrim, it is useless, and not eye torture at all.

Plus your game will develop issues over time, so have fun with that.

Try this https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/34705

But i must warn you that your gpu have to be an absolute beast that can maintain 144hz at all times or whatever frame you would like to maintain or physic issue will come. if you are playing in vanilla or light modded sse then it should be no problem

I can tell the difference between 144hz and 60hz, vaguely, which is why I'm using one, and yes, I agree fps games are easier to notice changes on refresh rate.
What I can't relate is the day and night difference you're describing and how a game torture players' eyes by staying 60 fps.

Couple of things; Skyrim is not a "fast paced fps" so your frame rate isn't as important as it is in twitch based games.

Secondly, yes, you can increase the frame rate beyond 60 and even mitigate most of the havoc physic issues; BUT there is nothing you can do to fix the fact scripting is tied to your fps so even if you manage to get plates to not explode your game is still eating itself alive as scripts fail to run due to simply not having enough time between frames to execute.

This constantly comes up and we repeat the same answer - but with new people constantly aquiring the game and not being fully informed as to its limits, that will happen, so we'll repeat it again:

The thing is, that most people look at the FPS issue as a visual one - they do not understand that the real issue is not the visuals, it is the underlying things that can't be seen, the fact that EVERYTHING in the game is tied to the FPS - quests, timelines, NPC behavior, the AI, etc. And, any deiviations from what is expected by the game is applied each time the screen refreshes - the greater the amount that you exceed 60 FPS by, the faster the errors accumulate.

There is also this, as Ilja posted in another dicussion:

"With vanilla settings, game grants 1.2ms per 16.7ms frame for any scripts to complete itself. Frame time is naturally tied to FPS and given value is for 60fps. Higher values will cut down the frame time in progressive manner, so that it is only 8.35ms in 120fps. That does not leave a lot of time for game functions.

With 144hz and 144fps game would be left very little time to execute scripts.

Uncapping mods may solve Physics issues, but PapyrusVM still grants script time per frame.

So, yeah. Those solutions are not going to work well over long playthrough."

Getting the game above 60hz [FPS] is it possible? - https://steamcommunity.com/app/489830/discussions/0/5251727781289359246/

The game is not designed to exceed 60 FPS. Issues will occur - even if you do not see them. Exceeding 60 is done at your own risk and is not supported. Should you encounter problems with your game, we will not be able to help.

All that being said, there is nothing to stop you from using settings that allow you to exceed 60 FPS - the game is yours to play and/or break as you wish.

I have 144hz monitor and play at 1440p. I cap my fps at 60 and the game looks, runs, and feels great. As has been rightfully said by others it's not recommended to play above 60 fps.
