NFF mod spoiled me.... (fun discussion about Serana)

So, I've used to simply slap in UFO in elder days of Oldrim, than moved over to AFT, than iAFT and kept with that for years. When I came back to SSE this time (no Oldrim anymore), I discovered that iAFT was extremely outdated and glitchy, and switched to AFT (which I always hated the way it was structured). Than I noticed that even AFT was outdated and working funny.

Than I was suggested NFF, which btw is incredible, the sandboxing in it is bad when compared to AFT, but everything else works like a charm. So, fastforward to countless hours in a single save-file that I'm using for "beta testing" my Load Order, and I finally move to play Dawnguard, and I realize that for some reason I'm hating Serana, which was once my favorite tag-along follower due to her "incredible better AI". But what gives? Well, NFF does such a good job with follower's combat AI that a lot of staple issues from Vanilla simply disappeared, like constant friendly fire from allies, inconvenient use of certain spells, "pathfinding" and navigation leading followers to block your way constantly, so on so forth. So what happens with Serana that became blatantly annoying?! Well, she isn't afected by NFF (for many reasons, mainly Bethesda's implementation to blame).

So what's going on:

Serana is constantly getting in the way blocking passage, it happens once every 5 minutes on any narrow places or corridors..

I'm using commited Melee attacks, she loves to sprint into my power-attack combos and nearly enter bleed-out while saving the enemies from 100% of the dmg.

She moves into the way of shouts

She spams Ice Storm and keeps dmging me and any other type of follower with us (she killed 3 armored trolls already, and now I simply gave up on using them)

When she finally gives Ice Storm a break, she decides it's a good idea to use Chain Lightning (ugh)

She constantly gets stuck for no reason, so I have to go back and fetch her, sometimes that isn't enough, I also have to snap her out of her mary tripping by shield-bashing her or she won't move.

So, the conclusion is: NFF made me hate Serana.

I use a flying mod and don't give her wings so she has to run across Skyrim to catch up with me.

both of you due to the annoying commentary? I don't care for her annoying commentary, I don't pay attention to it, but when the Ice Storm spam starts or when I can't move, well, suffice to say I've fusrohdah'ed her countless times

Yes, annoying commentary and the whole 'poor little vampire girl' attitude get very old very quickly.

Tip, with some parts of the game, mods are not guaranteed to make things better
and not worse.

I agree, it's a poorly written character with a atrocious voice acting (modern english slang language from a ancient vampire locked up for millenia). But yet she used to be the best follower mechanically speaking when compared to others, even with use of UFO or AFT she still stood out, with NFF she's just trash, any generic follower does everything she does, but better.
In fact, to me the Whole of Dawnguard is extremely lore unfriendly. Here we have the vampires and dawnguard living in late-middle ages castles while the rest of Skyrim lives in iron age castles. We have vampires out of touch with society speaking normal language instead of archaic language. Volkihar does strike me as being influenced in architecture by High Rock culture, yet we see no mentions of High Rock at all. Dawnguard castle is completely out of place geographically and contextually.
They've slapped back 2 snow elves and expect us to believe nobody came in contact with them before their isolation, EVER, for thousands of years.
It all strikes wrong to me, hence why i've never really liked the DLC itself. In fact the worst part to me is the lack of interconnection with other plot lines.

Didn't really understand your comment there. I've said that NFF is so good it spoiled me to a point where I find Serana to be a rubbish follower in every regard, when in Oldrim she'd be the "best". No follower frameworks can handle Serana due to how Bethesda made her implementation (it always causes bugs), so I was just saying, stating really, how useless she is if you use something as good as NFF, and that I find it sort of funny. She used to mechanically work better than any other follower, so I endured her annoying writing and voice acting, but without the advantages I'm starting to see her as the worst follower in the entire game.

not to forget the constantly nagging about the weather .... sun (ok I can get that as a vampire), snow, rain, night, etc, etc, etc it never ends not to mention her annoying exploding horse and her raising MY LOOT.
