Is there still no solution to the double music bug?
I have searched across the internet and there seems to still be no solution to the years old bug of 2 songs playing at once, which is particularly noticeable with combat songs.

My experience with it is that when running around and getting into combat the music will start playing, then I think as more enemies target you it triggers the music again.

For example if you get into combat with multiple whiterun guards the music will start, then if you sheath your weapons but refuse to surrender then the music will trigger again over-top of the ongoing combat music.

Is there some edit you can make to limit the music to 1 at a time? Or fix the triggers? Or something?

I'm pretty sure that this happens regardless of mods, even in vanilla.

I just did a fresh install so I know that it couldn't be missing files or whatever from that.

Thanks for any info, these forums seem the best place for questions.

Yes, this is vanilla. The only workaround I can recommend and that I am using myself is to install Kill The Orchestra and mute various battle music tracks. I personally removed the generic combat music that plays everytime you enter combat and only left that one that plays when you encounter a high level enemy or a dragon.

I found the solution, you have to install Skyrim Script Extender, then Skse engine fixes from the Nexus, then replace part 1 with the latest version from github. Here's a link to the reddit post and github.

Weird that the latest SSE Engine Fixes build that fixes this bug hasn't been uploaded to Nexusmods yet, but the GitHub 5.7.0 version has been hanging there for a while now, was uploaded on the 17th of July. Unless it's just someone else's unofficial fork.
