What is your collection of nexus mods that you would recommend?
I'm looking to get back into Skyrim, never played it with any kind of mod but now I'm looking mainly for graphic mods and bug fixes but also any other mod that you think is well made and not changing the feel of the game too much.

The Phoenix Flavour is perfect for that. It's very lore-friendly and a good chunk of the mods are optional. Looks enormous, but it's worth. Plus it teaches you how to do basic stuff with the Skyrim third party tools.

Here are some pictures:

And here is the guide:

Keep the basic instruction page open next to the guide, in case you don't want to use the Wabbajack method of installing the mods.

I'll add my interest in suggestions, I just wanted to create a similar thread.
I played all main titles since Daggerfall, but never finished any of them. I prefer to just explore stuff until I'm in the mood to continue the story. Bought Skyrim last year, but never had the motivation and time to play it yet. I have no idea about modding, but I'd like to start the game with some mods.
Like the OP, I'm interested in fixes, QoL mods and mods that maybe enrich some neglected features. No mods that change 50% of the game.
I'd be thankful for some suggestions that work well together.

Most important that you have a stable foundation then you can rock.

Here are a few small, lightweight mods, which I consider quality of life mods. They change how some of the game features work, rather than quests or armor.

- Mods by CDCooley -

No Furniture Activation When Sneaking:

https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/6002

This has saved me from sitting or laying down, breaking my sneak, when I am trying to loot near benches, beds, etc.

Sometimes Pick Up Books:

https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/11304

Simply, weapons draw- pickup books without reading them. Weapons put away - Read them like normal.

Enchantment Swapper:

https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/23091

Mis-named in my opinion. I've used it to swap enchantments only once. What it should be is "Name items without having to enchant them," and it saves me aggravation and enchanting potions, by allowing me to enchant things one after the other, without having to waste time naming them. Afterward, I can equip the book and name (or re-name) things at my leisure. *Tip: If you use a space or two before the name, the items will stay at the top of your inventory. (ie: __my armor, __my helmet, etc)

Better Container Controls: (SKYUI version and non-SKYUI version available)

https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/5689

This is a Godsend, which allows you to store everything, or individual categories of things, all at once. Put your entire trove of alchemy ingredients away just as fast as you could normally take them. Saves time and wear & tear on mouse/controller buttons.

*I have linked the non-SKYUI version. If you use SKYUI, you need the other one.
** Some features don't work with controllers. As such, if I have to sort junk from good stuff, rather than just put it all away, I'll often unplug my controller first and do it with keyboard. That is something I do maybe once a week.
*** There is a text .ini, which lets you type in items you want to be exempt from moving or storing.
**** Next mods will help with this mod, as you can stop favorited items from being moved.

Mods by PowerOfThree * Some of these require additional mods, like SKSE64, the Address Library for SKSE plugins, etc. If you install these, make sure you check the "requirements" tab first.

Favorite Misc Items:

https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/42750

Favorite books, soul gems, whatever.

Essential Favorites:

https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/42997

Favorited items don't even appear in your trade/sell/smelt menus. No more selling things you meant to keep.

Sales Overflow Solved:

https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/41625

When you just bought a bunch of training from someone, so they would have enough money to buy your banish weapons, and suddenly the game stops paying you for your items around 30k gold. This stops that.

Thanks for the suggestions so far I'll definitely try some of them.
