The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition

Shalidor's Insights (How Many Books?)
Seriously how many books do I have to find?Is it limited to a certain number, or do I keep going indefinitely? I'm starting to wonder if this quest is going to just keep continuing until I go to every location in Skyrim. I've already found and returned repeatedly several books. Is there a limited amount or does this quest just start again over and over if you ask him?

It's a repeatable radiant quest so you can ask him a million times and you'll have to do it a million times.

hahaha ok thanks for clarifying. is that what "radiant" means? I kept waiting for some grand finale, like I got them all.. lol
According to the UESP wiki[en.uesp.net] :
The Radiant quest system is a quest generator that creates quests from a series of components such as location, enemy type, and reward. Some of these components are randomized, but not all. The randomized components are generated every time that the quest is triggered. Radiant quests are used throughout the game in various faction questlines and in miscellaneous quests.
I don't think they're all repeatable but this one is. Some are only repeatable a set number of times (Totems of Hircine for example, there are only 3 totems, Ancient Technology for the Dawnguard can be completed 6 times, and so on).

thanks for the info
Dont Shalidors insight have a limit also? And the book hunting quest he gives (the generic one) is unlimited? I almost never do the shalidor one as it tend to end up in some annoying dungeon i dont want to do. But i have vague memories of that one stoping after a while.
Only info I found on UESP was in the discussion part of the quest's article that said "confirmed repeatable" without any mention of a limit.

I haven't played for years and even then I'm pretty sure I didn't do that one more than two or three times on a single playthrough but I can't remember if it was because of a limit or because it got boring after a while.
There is a limited variety of the books, there is one each for each school of magic plus I think another two (one adds a +1 to every school)

Which would mean there are seven different Shalidor's insight books.
Well I njoticed even after turning in another book, they main quest "Shalidor's Writings" still stays up there. Guess there is more books to go. I'll keep going. I did 2 or 3 more additional since I started this post. I'll keep going and see what happens. Will update if I figure something out. thanks for all the input so far

He give 2 different book quest. One to grab a random book from X place and then Shalidors Writings wich is another book quest.

It's still a radiant quest, like the other book quest, it never runs out.

OK that makes sense. so how do I complete "Shalidor's Insights" then, and get that quest to go away? everything I searched for online has lead me nowhere. It doesn't give me the option to check it's location on the map in game, like it does with many quests. I must have done several more of his random book quests then lastnight. thinking it's the shalidor's insights quest..
Ok jsut read that I might need to go to Solstheim to find it. That would explain why it's not on the Skyrim map. I'll have to try going there, and see if a marker on the map pops up.
Yeah, that's one of the bad sides of radiant quests (or any quest that needs you to go to another worldspace), marker doesn't show up if it's in a different worldspace from the one you're currently in.

Mods that add a worldspace (like Falskaar or Wyrmstooth) can add to the mix by having some radiant enabled locations so it may also be there for some quests depending on their requirements.
This one targets any dungeon that contains a boss chest for example, so it has a rather long list of possible locations even in the vanilla game.

Ok I'm at Solstheim, and I can't find any map marker for Shalidor's Insights here either. I'm at a loss.. I'm pretty sure I didn't install any mods that add places other than one mushroom dunmer style wizard house for myself. and it's not there.
Starting to think it might be somewhere that I need to complete some DLC quests, like maybe Dawnguard, or more companion ones to open up new locations that are currently locked.
