mods and soul gems
Is anyone aware of a mod that alters the soul system? Right now if all I have is an empty Greater, and soul tap like a wolf, it'll fill with a petty and I'm stuck with it. I can't overwrite it, empty it or anything.

Pretty much the only reliable greater soul is Mammoths but they aren't entirely plentiful or fast spawning.

So thats the background, here is the question:

Is there a mod that would let you fill soul gems over time? Like if I have an empty greater, I can trap multiple lessers and pettys to fully fill that greater.

Does such a thing exist?

Stormtempter, I saw the following mod which was just released today and immediately thought of your thread. You may want to take a look at it:

Soul Merge Foci - Portable Soul Gem Crafting - https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/43616

Anyway, hope you have a merry Christmas and a wonderful New Year!

This is what you want:

I don't use mods for Soul Gems other than texture mods.

I use the Black Star that you get the option of turning Azura's star into the Black Star during the quest with Nelacar (spelling) during the Azura Star quest.

I also think you need a better understanding of how exactly Soul Gems work. Perhaps not, but either way this link will give you detailed info on Soul Gems.

I'm sure someone will come along with a mod that does or comes close to doing what you ask. Like I said I don't use mods for Soul Gems so I'll leave that topic to someone with knowledge of it if it exists.

Edit: ah see there you go (what can I say I'm a slow typist)

Gonna give that mod a whirl this weekend. I got 34 Grand empties waiting to be filled.

Its a step in the right direction, though not everything I am looking for. It prevents a creature soul tapped, from being absorbed unless you have the appropriate level of soul gem. Unless I missed the option somewhere, you can't actually accumulate smaller souls to fill bigger gems though.

To combine soul gems look at this: Mystic Condenser https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/10176?tab=description

I can't speak for it myself because it is still only on my "Possibles" list for later testing.

Try what mikk011 posted (though I find it to be a major unlore friendly thing to be able to use lesser soul gems to make greater one and vice versa - they are not things like potions that can be mixed - like saying killing 4 foxes is the equivalent of killing a mammoth - but to each their own as to how the game is played). As to using one soul gem to accumulate multiple souls (in effect, acting as a container), that is not possible and there are no mods that do that which I am aware of. Soul gems are unitary in nature and are only capable of holding one soul - regardless of the size (which is where the mod I linked is good in that it makes soul gems only able to hold the appropriate size soul).
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Thats done it. Well that and a little bit of the other one. The other one ensures only the correct sized soul is trapped in the proper gem. This one works as advertised, you can go up or down by fusing and splitting gems. I consolidated all my filled gems to Grand, and now I load up on all the empties and just keep a soul trap weapon to gather.

Nice one

Glad it works for you! And yeah, sometimes it may take a couple of mods to get what you want in the game. Enjoy!
