Vortex and LOOT.

So, I'm still very unsure how load order works, but I've heard Vortex, originally called, (Nexus mod manager), sorts everything for you, but LOOT is a mod sorter software. Some info would be nice to know more on why you want to have LOOT?

Vortex is more of a replacement for NMM, not a new name. If you were using NMM, or Boethiah forbid, the workshop on Oldrim, you would need LOOT to sort your mods.

NMM is no longer supported, use Vortex or MO2 instead. As you are using Vortex already, there is no need to change unless you are creating mods yourself (MO2 apparently supports this better)

I've already been using Vortex since I ever known it was a thing.

Just to be clear you can use the stand alone version of LOOT as well as Vortex, BUT do not use the sorting option from both, pick which one you want and stick with it.

They each use a slightly different way of sorting and you will just keep changing the load order if you use both.

I hate to be that guy, but that's really confusing to me for some reason. I can use LOOT as a stand alone version, but don't use it for sorting my load order if I'm already using Vortex?

In Vortex you must either click the sort button or set it to auto sort, auto I think is set by default.

If you are using Vortex, you do not need stand alone LOOT. :)

Vortex will (by default) automatically, sort for you and has a button called 'Deploy' that will do the sort for you on demand.

Vortex is all most of us will ever need.

Yes you can but no reason really, it is not that big on disk space. It is still a useful tool.

I guess if you don't care about the inter workings of the game and just want Vortex too, delete it.

Also, as an aside. All should be aware by now that Vortex can now 1. go get your SKSE64 for you from silverlock 2. show you the version it's about to download 3. install the entire zip file 4. let you know when there is an update.

Vortex can also now install your enb

Edit, I still use Loot to read the entire message(s) and to double check my load order now and again.
