Did my character just talk?

I'm in the mines of an orc stronghold and I was manually mining some orichalcum by attacking it with a pick. I heard a khajiit voice say "Is that what you want, huh?" but I'm the only khajiit here.

TES main characters never speak, even the shout was something of a new factor when this game launched, you only ever got grunts before.

Either there was a Khajiit hiding nearby, or it's a random one off bug.

or a mod that adds player voice sets for the player played in certain situations like finding a new valued item or a new location or something: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/27039 and that mod has a male khajiit player voice (if the OP was a male khajiit)

I don't have any mods installed, unless the hearthfire and dragonborn DLC's count as mods.

The player character cant speak beyond saying the shouts. Thats it you can hear your character say the shouts.



YOu can not however hear him just plain talking as there is no voice or lines for the player character to speak.


You are hearing some other khajit in the mines. Plain and simple. Either there is one father in that you havent reached yet but you are close enough to hear him. I.e some dungeons have levels underneath with npcs that are close enough to you to hear them. But YOu wouldnt see them until you go down a level. LIke your on the first floor of a building and you hear someone on the second floor.


It could even be coming from a secret area. npc still close enough for you to hear him. But not see him.



YOur hearing a npc. Your character isnt speaking.

I had the same experience in a cave playing my Nord saying the exact same thing.

nope, what if the sound you just heard, not from your headphones?
think about it, and you just realized you're alone and nobody at your home.

and you heard knock, and when you start slowly walking toward your doorstep, a person look like a cat in uniform. then you again relized it is khajit. then you screaming.

and you start opening up mcm, and look at the menus and relized again you have this https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/27039 mod installed.

FO4 they spoke IIRC (now you got me thinking). But usually Beth games the MC does not speak and most people like it that way. Bethesda took a lot of grief for FO4 because of that, again IIRC

I'm going to find a neutral NPC and melee attack away from them while pressed up against them and see if it happens again

Old topic but the same thing just happened to me, i have a nord character and i was attacking with a pickaxe to mine iron ore, i am in knifepoint mine all bandits are dead and my character said "Im gonna put..." and it didnt finish the line cuz i was just spamming attack and it got cancelled by other grunt sound, never happened to me before and i have played this game for years now, also no mods installed only the creation club addons from the special edition

Another one to add to the pile, was in the mines and my character is Khajit. I triple checked if there was any other Khajit in the mines, but I was the only one there. I was doing a power attack dual wielding daggers to make some noise to attract somebody around the corner and my character said "Time to finish this." when executing the attack. It was a Khajit voice and it quite clearly came from my character. I have mods installed but none that add any voice lines and this is the very first time that ever happened. It couldn't been anybody else because I was hidden at the time and the voice line came before the attack even struck a surface.

Just brainstorming. What if the ore NODE is an actor (for scripting purposes) and because they are attacking and not using the activate animation the node is responding.

Someone much smarter than me would have to look into it.
