Skyrim SE launcher won't let me launch in 4k
The Skyrim SE launcher won't let me change my resolution to 3840x2160. When I start the launcher from steam the game defaults to 1176x664. I went into my SkyrimPrefs.ini and manually changed the resolution on the lines iSize H=2160 and iSize W=3840, but when I open the launcher it reverts back 1776x664. The Launcher doesn't even give me the option for 4k. If anyone can help let me know, or if you need more info.

Something must be wrong with your install or setup. I have a 4k tv and a 2k monitor and i can easily select the right resolutions on either. Try uninstalling the game then reinstall it with just the 4k monitor installed. Also check your monitor. See if there's drivers for it online.. Sometimes you get drivers with monitor specific settings for windows. I needed one for my monitor.

So i reinstalled the game, checked the drivers on the monitors as well and they are good. The only thing that is different is that the Skyrim launcher now opens in a default of 1920x1080, but the option for 4k or even 2k are not there.

Set the preset to ultra.
You might have to use mods, I was never sure on how to get 4k

Yep all set to ultra. I will also look into mods and see that will work.

I believe the aspect ration is still 16:9 at the resolution you want, so make sure the ratio is correct.

have you tried mods like these (although they are not for 3840x2160)

TruBy9 UltraWide - SkyrimSE

or

Complete Widescreen Fix for Vanilla and SkyUI 2.2 and 5.2 SE
