Fundamentally, no. It will be basically SE with Creation Club dressing. However, It will be listed as a separate game in the library for some users.
But as you said, there is still speculation. Will a SE save be playable in AE? Highly likely. Will SE third-party mods work with AE? This is also possible. We can't be sure yet. But the question Will SE achievements carry to AE? Well, this question is easier to answer; no.
I don’t think any SE mods or file saves will work on AE, including USSEP.
I am willing to bet there will be an Unofficial Skyrim Anniversary Edition Patch and not just because of the name change. There is a big changes for SkyrimAE, including no SKSE, which of course means no MCM.
It seems to get SE new content update you will have to go to Beth.net to get it.
If you notice on the AE page on Beth.net it has an update link, as well as a get AE link.
That would mean non English keyboards would not be able to login to get it. But they have not cared about that so far.
If you get AE I’m sure you will have to login to Beth.net to run it, even if there is a Steam Library run link, it will take you to Beth.net login.
So why am I jumping in this thread, BACKUP, BACKUP, BACKUP. I believe we will have to play SE offline just to avoid the inevitable forced update that will come.
There how’s that for speculation.
