bGamepadEnable=1
under [Main] in the ini prefs file with a text editor (notepad)
locate & open your SkyrimPrefs.ini with Notepad
find: bGamepadEnable=1 (make sure it's 1 and not 0)
Launch game and open the >>>Menu>>>Settings >>> gameplay
make sure the Controller box is enabled (ticked)
exit menu & enjoy
If that doesn't work
exit game
go back to
C:\Users\Owner\Documents\My Games\Skyrim Special Edition
delete the 2 (configuration files) .ini files
1. SkyrimPrefs.ini
2. Skyrim.ini
Then Launch the game and open the Menu>>>settings >> gameplay >> and enable controller>>> then exit the menu and play your game.
If needed don't forget to right click on this game in your Steam library and go to the Controller section and find a controller set-up for you.
