Can I transfer my Classic Skyrim save over to Special Edition?
I'm thinking of snagging Special Edition on sale one day because I really want to play the DLC. Also, if transferring my save is possible, would it essentially unlock the achievements I already earned, or would I have to earn them all over again?

You can only transfer is if it is unmodded, and it will not unlock most achievements as their requirements can only be done once.

As far as i am aware you cannot transfer your save from Oldrim to Special Edition.

At this point i would say don't bother getting the Special Edition. get the Anniversary Edition when it comes out. The Anniversary Edition is Special Edition complete with ALL of the currently available Creation Club Content PLUS unreleased Creation Club content (apparently this is over 500 individual pieces of extra content)

I do show interest in the Anniversary Edition but one thing is holding me back until further information. People suspect it might not run on the identical engine as SE, which will make the mod scene have to play catch up. That is turn off since I really want to fully enjoy Skyrim with mods. If that gets cleared up though and it doesn't require modders to play catch up then I might snag that version instead.

You most definitely can transfer the save, it was an advertised feature since the beginning of SSE.

If it's unmodded it's just copy and paste.
If it's modded it's impossible,

There're only 43 mods in the current skyrim cc?

Let's just say Bethesda were... generous... with how they counted "pieces of extra content". A mod adds an armor, a sword and a quest? Ding! At least 3 pieces of extra content! At the end of the day they do add up, but yeah it's still pretty misleading.

I was just really confused by this information, there are 40+ existing cc mods included in AE, and that's "ALL of the currently available Creation Club Content"?

They are adding in some unreleased CC content, 74 mods in total.

Everytime Skyrim is rereleased they enable it to be easier to mod.

In general you can use a save from the previous version of skyrim be it LE to SE or SE to AE
or a previous update to a newer update, as long as there was no mods present.
