Why is the Original Skyrim no longer listed on the Steam store?
I'd like Bethesda to address this directly. I remember when I first started playing Skyrim (which was on Xbox, mind you), I went to see what the system requirements were for PC, and I was happy to see that it only required to 2GB of RAM at minimum. So I took to the Steam store and searched "skyrim," but all that came up was Skyrim: Special Edition, Fallout 4, Creation Club credits, and a bunch of other Bethesda titles, none of which were the original Skyrim. Confused, I tried again, but to no avail, and I was becoming irritated. Why would they do that? I want to be able to mod Skyrim for free, not have to pay for them. My only other option was to find the link via my friend's games list, and thankfully, I did. I then put it on my wishlist. The problem is... it doesn't show up on the wishlist. Why? They need to put it back on the store, and maybe even make it free. I really want to play it on PC, without the hassle of referring to others' games lists just to find the damn link.

Overkill done same with payday2, they want money, and you can mod skyrimSE with skyrim mods, you need to do something with creation kit, google it.

So you can still use the same Nexus mods as the original Skyrim?

there is a skyrim special edition nexus site that has the main mods already ported

And you can port some by yourself, but dont post them.

It hasn't been delisted? Although, I have heard reports that it isn't showing up on the Steam search for some people. Even though Special Edition is better, Oldrim has its use cases (some mods haven't been ported, it runs on low spec/32-bit PC's as well) - here's the link.

Thanks, Dr. Dro!

And believe it or not, I prefer the old Skyrim (on PC, anyways), since 1.) it has more mod capabilities, and 2.) you can mod it to make it look much more realistic than the remaster

Well, while it has more mods (it is over 7 years old, after all), the D3D9 engine and RAM limitations of Oldrim technically make it inferior in every regard graphically, with much less absolute upgrade potential through mods.

I've gotten the SE for free for owning the LE like most players, but personally, if I had to shell out the dough I would probably not have bothered.

I have no idea why it's not listed. But I cannot definitely say that it is Bethesda's fault. Not all evil in the world is the fault of Bethesda. It could be Steam's fault. Maybe. Just maybe.

I think that it's Bethesda's own intention that it doesn't show up on the lists. They probably didn't remove it from the store because there's an obvious demand for the old version of the game and by licensing it directly through Steam they don't have to worry about product keys running out or anything, but other than that, yeah, don't think that they intend us to keep on playing Oldrim anymore. SSE is better in every way, even though it still contains the same ol' bugs.

Don't you think if this was the true reason they would not have given it for free to every single owner of the original Skyrim upon release? The only condition was that you had to own all 3 DLC pieces (which are included in this edition).
bethesda wants to make money, like every company in the entire universe. thats all. and i mean, special edition is more optimized and remastered anyway so they are doing you a favor. its not like they removed oldrim from the store, only hidden.

first world problems amirite.
