Nmm wont recognize skyrim special edition.
Anyone know how to fix this?

It says "Nexus mod manager is not setup to work with Skyrim. If skyrim is installed, rescan for installed games from the Change Game toolbar item." when trying to download with NMM from nexusmods.

I've tried updating NMM, and install mods manually (worked fine). Anyone know what the problem might be? I have also ofc rescanned several times, and it finds skyrims special edition.

when i modded special edition 6 months ago, i had the same problem. I had to manual download every single mod too. It surprises me that they haven't fixed this yet.

Try launching NMM with Admin rights.

Make sure your version is up to date, try "rescanning" with admin rights and make sure you choose the *special-edition*. Thats a different entry

It is the latest version. Pretty sure i've tried already but I tried again to make sure, admin rights, scan for games, skyrim special edition, still doesn't work. Does NMM work with special edition for you?

I had to re-scan mine when I started modding it recently. It takes a long time for it to find the folder SSE is located in if you have it installed to the vanilla location. Just let it run and it should find it.

It does find it, the game. It just doesn't work, the error keeps popping up.

Are you trying to download from the right nexus sight? Because that's the exact message you get when you try to download a mod from the Oldrim nexus when you got SE.

You want Skyrim:Special Edition

Not Skyrim

yea because of some of the background changes there are a good few mods that wont work with special edition without some changes so its got its own library but for the most part if you move your old mods into the Skyrim:Special Edition nexus mod folder you can run through the NMM just like normal. however i would recomend only doing it with mods that are cosmetic to avoid any problems, "most" mods have there own entry in the Skyrim:Special edition section on the nexus
