so where are the falmer ruins?
they had an empire that spaned skyrim before the nords killed them so shouldnt they have left a ruined cities and fortresses and temples across the provience like the Alyids did in cyrodil or the Dwemer did. its odd that outside dawngaurd not a single snow elf ruin is left

They don't have any ruins of their own down there. Snow Elves were driven underground - that's not where they built their civilisation.

I didn't say they build it. They just live underground, ancient dwemer ruins. And their mines.

My guess is everything was sieged and destroyed by ysgramor and his 500 companions. :lunar2019piginablanket:

Nords destroyed most Falmer buildings in their war with them, and probably dismantled them to build their own cities afterward, but it is a shame bethesda didn't put a few in.

When you do the Dawnguard DLC, you get a bit of the history of the Betrayed..... as the Snow Elf Paladin refers to them.

Anyone ever see a *female* Falmer? I never have. How then, do they reproduce? Or do they live for hundreds of years?

Great question

*All Falmer are blind (80 pts) and have a Fortify Sneak ability (30 pts). Most Falmer you will encounter are male; in fact, the Falmer listed in the tables below are all male in the base game. If Dawnguard is installed, however, the Falmer shaman will all be female and wear a special female Falmer outfit (their gender is still marked as male in the game data, however; only the Falmer Warmonger shaman is actually marked as being female).
