Edit: feeding on sleeping npc's makes you immune to sunshine for a while. Just make sure that no one is looking while you do so.
And yes ... vampires do burn in sunlight. Have you not seen any vampires movies or games since you been born ?
What? I thought vampires just sparkled in the sunlight.
"Long quest"
Literally takes 5 minutes to do.
Better Vampire's mod. Totally changes the way they work and you can get rid of that sunlight crap. Or make it worse with the in game spell.
I play a vampire lord in my current playthrough with better vampires. It's really fun! Down side is it can be annoying when running around town selling stuff as you don't regen stamina during the day, but during the night(or inside out of the sun) I'm super strong. Combined with iNeed so that thirst and hunger are replenished with blood it provides a challenge of always looking for easy victims to seduce and drain whenever I can, and keeping a few blood potions handy if I get caught in a pinch without viable victims.
feeding on a NPC doesn't kill them or even turn them into a vampire. Depending on your sneak level I think they can wake up though and alert the gaurds.
