For those with a 32bit computer.
Apparently Skyrim Special Edition (SSE) is 64bit only. Now , feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but if I'm not, any user who gets and installs the SSE version having a 32bit computer won't be able to play it. So don't worry, you still have your good ol' Skyrim in your library.

Thanks for this helpful topic. My friend has 32bit windows because he still lives in 2010, and I was worried he would think that the release of the Skyrim Special Edition would mean that the regular edition of Skyrim would be removed from his Steam library. But now I can ensure that he will not experience a brief episode of aggravation, thanks to your timely post.

As a friend, you should stage an intervention and convince him that he should switch to a 64 bit OS. Friends don't let friends use 32 bit.
wait wait wait! hang on a moment now 64 bit?? 32bit??
what are you talking about, i could swear it stated that this, my sega, was a 16bit
what kind of ultra futurisic star trek spaceage computers are you talking about and how do i get one

32 bit computers have been obsolete for a very long time now, it just took awhile for the operating systems to catch up.

I own a tablet which is 32bit. The SE version has lighting effects that don't work very well on the tablet. I'm not very happy that they decided to take my original installation of skyrim out of steam as now I cannot run it on my tablets. I paid for both versions why can't I have what i paid for. Tablets are the future.. not big overpowered computers that suck up more money to run than a space shuttle to mars.

The old version is not taken out of Steam, you can still find it in your library. Heck, you can still buy it even.

Thing is, if I decommision my deliberately 32 bit five year old lappy, how am I supposed to play my catalogue of old 16 bit games? Horses for courses.

erm...I think you mean 32 bit WIndows vs 64 bit? Processors have been 64 bit for many years.

There are billions of them out there. Ever heard of Apple or Samsung?

SSE will play on a 32bit OS, you just will not get any advantage by doing so. If you have a 32bit machine just stick to Oldrim; it is the same game and mods can enhance the look and feel of it so that it is comparable to SSE.

No, the game won't even boot up with a 32 bit system. You can play a 32 bit game on a 64 bit OS, but you can't do it the other way around.

Tablets don't have enough power to run skyrim 32bit let alone 64bit even on a 64bit tablet. Well not unless they are tweaked or the game is heavily modded to be much lighter. I did manage to do that with the 32bit version but I couldn't do it with the 64bit version. My 64bit MSI laptop plays the se version very well but its big and bulky. The tablet can be carried in one hand and i can even fit it in the back of my pants when i'm going places. Imagine that sort of access to games with a higher end pc. If people take advantage of what tablets are now they will only get better.
