How do you sell stolen goods?
I feel like a doofus. I started the game and I've been stealing everything in sight, lots of gold necklaces, and nobody to buy em?

You can only sell stolen goods to fences (NPCs that will buy stolen items) but to do that, you need to join the Thieves Guild.

Wasn't there also a perk in the speech tree that does that? ~does google search~
Yep there is one called "Fence" but it requires you to have Speech leveled to 90 so yeah, going with the Thieves Guild is quicker/"better".

LOL. Thanks. I forgot about that perk.

Follow up question: do all merchants pay the same for your goods? Or do some pay more than others? Is there a way to tell?

Bonus question: where can you get lockpicks in this game? (i know about the skeleton key but I'm not there yet). Thanks.

They pay the same. Also, lockpicks can be gotten from bandits as random loot.

You can't buy them anywhere? I remember one "Shady Sam" in Oblivion.

You can (there's one in dawnstar), but only from a select few people. Looting from corpses is all I've ever needed.

Mostly right, like before there's a (mostly useless) perk in the speech tree called "Allure" that allows one to get 10% better prices when bartering with a shop keeping of the opposite gender. I say mostly useless since it's only 10% which means you'd need to sell some high end expensive stuff to even really notice a difference but on the plus side all it requires is you to have a speech level of 30 and invested at least one point into haggling.

I recommend harvesting these herbs and making this potion. You will achieve 100 alchemy and speech with these indgrediants and you will NEVER have to worry about $ again

Mora Tapinela + Fly Amanita + Dragon Tounge = A LOT OF $
Tundra Cotten + Dragon Tounge = Barter potion (I think)(optional)
Again you can harvest ALL these indgrediants @ your homestead and even more if you have a greenhouse.

One more thing make sure to have the Thief stone sleep before you craft/sell and give charity to the beggers.
