Whiterun Texture Bug
Is anyone else getting this?

It very seldomly happens, but still.

I'm thinking it could possibly be a bug with Open Cities? I'm not sure.

Not mod related.

Had this once without any mods installed. Exiting Skyrim and reloading the game fixed it and it hasn't happened since.

I have had the same periodically. Once it was so bad, the front of buidings had the same appearance. No doors or windodws.

I had this bug almost everytime I fast travelled to Whiterun, and I went away IF I did not arrive arived night. SO:

1. never fast travel to any city ow town if you are going to arrive at night
2. I fast travel to Whiterun (or any city) at the stables or other place near. Even then when I arrive at the Whiterun stables I notice scrambled graphics around the last drawbridge just before the main gate of Whiterun. Doing a F5/F9 corrects the problem.
3. If you get to the Whiterun gate and it is not right try the procedure in #2 above. If that does not work then fast back to the stables and move to the city again.

I can confirm that the solution of "verify game files" in Properties->Local Files in steam fixed the issue for me. Switching zones or reloading saves did not work, nor did messing with graphics settings or updating drivers.

mirror...mirror on the wall......? I tried what you did but the problem keeps happening. The procedure I stated does work most of the time

The problem with this bug for me is that although the first few times I could fix it by restarting the game (going to another location and back never fixed it for me). Now it seems that this bug is permanent, as in restarting the game doesn't work anymore. I've tried everything from verifying the game files to rebooting my device in the hopes to empty the cache but nothing seems to fix it.

fix is repack the loose textures files to the whiterun changeing mods and name those texture as modname.bsa

where you replace modname with the same name as to the modf it belongs to as same as the esm/ esp depending what formate the mod uses

if you use the mod mergepatch function then if you can package it to that mergepatch .bsa
to fix this to link those loose content files to the mergepatch mod
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GGcwR9gxhRU

reason Skyrim SE engine does not like looose files since it will need to run a test of what file it is if it is not in packaged format

what in game at those broken texture and let it also wait 5 sunny days that should remove the weird water pool broken texztures

it caused by the flood water effect when it rains more then 3 days in the same place

unless you get a texture effect replacer for water flood puddles it allways will look like that.

dont forget to add those textures to mergepatch.bsa

and yes its part of the engines weather system that when it rains for more then 5 days in same place.

it creates broken water puddles in the cracks and high diffren areas of textures

same effect exits in fallout 4 engiens sicne it uses the same weather system it has the same thing.

if you dont like their looks mods the water puddle weather textures
or use Oldrim to remove that weather system.

Did you try NOT fast traveling at night?

Also when going to whiterun go to the stables then walk to the gate. At times when I crossed the LAST drawbridge just before the main gate the graphix around the gate were messed up. doing a quick save/quickload worked most of the time for this or trying to enter Whiterun at night.

Just got this bug from fast travelling from an orc stronghold to whiterun. : /

Right before though I tried to fast travel while jumping and it wouldn't let me. I don't know if this can instigate this problem but I thought I would mention it.

This is an old bug. Usually if nothing's wrong with your builds, it disappears if you reload the save. Otherwise, maybe is a LOD problem (as was written in previous post) or it's a texture missing.

But nothing really that can't be fixed. Just pick some new Whiterun's textures and replace your current ones, to see if is been fixed.

Wheter this is fixable by ourselves or not, this is something Bethesda should fix.
It looks very sloppy to have this bug in the special edition release of your game.

It will never be fixed in these games... maybe future games.

If we are lucky...

Idk if its caused by the same thing in SE as it is in Oldrim but the fix for oldrim is to go into your Skryim.ini (should be located at "Documents\My Games\Skyrim") and delete thefollowing lines under [MapMenu]

uLockedObjectMapLOD=32
uLockedTerrainLOD=32

For some reason bethesda put in a patch a long time ago that locked LODs from unloading and deleting those lines should fix it. Took me 6 years to find a fix but here it is.
