If you want to run, you have to manually uncrouch. I would bet that is the issue you are having.
This is a huge deal for me, which keeps me from playing regularly. There I am trying to sneak up on some Foreswarn, take my shot with a bow, and can't run when they're running after me. I'm mashing buttons for the next few seconds, because it is unnatural to do anything other than press the sprint button. It's the dumbest thing ever, and there are no mods to fix that.
I understand that it's how silent roll works, but that's just a very bad excuse. It should not require a manual standing up when you don't even have silent roll. Silent roll should be made to work with good controls. Controls should not be worse to accommodate of silent roll.
So lets just get this straight. You're blaming the game, on your inability under stress, to push a key to get you to stand up before sprinting.
I have no issues running away when I have previously been crouching, as i stand up first.......you seem to not be able to do this, but how is this the games fault? Clearly there are mechanics in the game for you to stand up again, its not a fault in the game if you panic and mash buttons, this is on you to simply get better at the controls.
I am god awful at racing games, but I do not go around blaming the game for me crashing or not being fast enough to win, I accpet I am just pants at racing games, and yes I get better with practise, but I know its just me not the game. (though granted at the time I loose, I call the game everyname under the sun)
Boi rip
The game has incredibly easy controls; 99% of them are the same as every other action game for PC. Stand up, then sprint.
