How to make loot recognize skyrim special edition?
Just like the title says. I have tried and tried , uninstalled and reinstalled, but nothing seems to work.
I'll be the 1st to admitt that I suck at computers, can someone please walk me through it?

LOOT has not been updated to find SSE outcof the box.

well i got it to work, uninstall old Loot and remove everything that have anything to do with it, then grab the newest version, and go into settings press the + to add a new game and put this info in there

Name: TES V: Skyrim SE
Base Game: Skyrim
LOOT Folder: SkyrimSE
Master File: Skyrim.esm
Masterlist Repo URL: https://github.com/loot/skyrimse.git
Masterlist Repo Branch: v0.10
Install Path: C:\Program files (86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Skyrim Special Edition\
Install Path Reg Key: Software\Bethesda Softworks\Skyrim Special Edition\Installed Path

This works for me, just change the install path to where your skyrim SE is installed

I had an error which was blocking my masterfile update the problem was that i had not removed everything Loot related before i installed.

Where is the + to add a game?
Azakir Nov 4, 2016 @ 10:36am
just download the latest dev version of loot, it will recognize SSE and work as normal
Tearfulstab Nov 4, 2016 @ 10:36am
Go to settings in the right corner then press + in the left corner of the setting tab

I must seem so stupid to you and I apologize, but where is the dev archive that I'm supposed to unpack? Is it in loot ver 0.9.2? or click on that link you provided scroll down and use the 1st download link https://github.com/loot/loot/releases/download/0.9.2/loot-api_0.9.2-0-g6b58f92_dev.7z
When I click that a box flashes for a slite second then dissappears..I have no idea why! Maybe that part of the problem?

I'd like to point out that this worked for me as well. I'm using the archive version 0.9.2, but it doesn't automatically detect the game, so manually adding it worked fine.

How do you copy/paste masterlist repo url &install path 1 and 2? when I right click I get nothing?

you should not need to just download from the updated link i provided in my earlier post, unpack it and run the loot.exe it should work, then update the master file from within loot, sort the mods and apply. if that doesnt work its because you didnt remove everything Loot related

loot_0.9.2-139-gc27e55c_dev this is the one i am using to be exact

this version might not even need the game to be added

ok so when I double click on loot_0.9.2-139-gc27e55c_dev a window pops up saying open with 7zip or save... I choose open with 7zip, then it downloads, so I go to the new downlods and there is the link, I click on it and it flacshes 1 time very fast and dissappears, and thats all that happens! I have a new pc with win 10, maybe something is not setup right? some permission or something idk, but why it flashes quickly then nothing idk, but this is whats happening all along.
I have checked everywhere for old loot stuff but I dont think anything is left.

I am using MO and tried following your recommendation down to a tee but I still get the following error "Error code: -1; Invalid game ID supplied.".

Going to continue with Loot, but it would have been nice to get it working with MO to properly troubleshoot the load order.
Tearfulstab Nov 4, 2016 @ 4:00pm
I use NMM, have not tried MO, of what i understand you just need the newest Loot Dev version and it should find skyrim SE by itself, But as i stated above,

its really important to remove everything related to Loot or you get errors.

Btw you have to start skyrim once before you really start modding, not sure if you have done that, else Loot wont hook to your game, this is mostly guess work as i havent used loot much so if someone knows better please correct me
