I am however finding this Expert playthrough to be terribly difficult at points, when I also played either Master but usually Adept with tough Mods.
Even with plenty of health (more than I usually have), 200 right now, I have been one-shotted if I'm not careful.
The other thing to check is lag. The game has the appearance of running faster than it actually is (for me) as far as what the FPS shows. My guess is that is factoring in as well.
That said, I'm enjoying the difficulty mostly -- except one I hope to never repeat. (Butcher - much worse than usual)
I didn't have the ice troll at level 21 this time, but I recall it instakilling me prior to modding. If you google it you can find some work arounds, and one of them includes running past him (or going invisible).
I used all my potions fighting a troll not even half an hour before that and wasn't remotely prepared.
I've also had easier enemies in places where I was expecting hard ones.
I play a "wizard", and I've killed frost trolls and ice bears and cave bears and what not, but mostly because I just stagger them to death, I often have to let my companion tank them and wait for my magicka because I run out of it all the time. I'm level 32 now... oh and after the beta update last night my game crashed for the first time... :/
I play on Master atm.
The AI also seems to be more responsive too. In the original vs bandits, as an archer if I fired at them, one or two might hide but the rest seemed to be on "lazy" ai and just charge you, even if they had bows. Now on this version theyre more likely to flank round, hop from rock to rock seeking cover, so it could just simply be an effect of having more memory and processing available.
Having said that though, the AI does still have its Dumb Dumb moments. Valtheim Bandit Chief killed himself on my arrival. Scared him with one arrow, he runs off a cliff into the river.
I've also noticed massive problems with AI spawning (multiple sharing singular spawn spots) for example, Whiterun Attack (Imperial civil war side), Bethesda seem to have increased the number of stormcloaks that attack, but haven't increased the number of spawn locations, so regularly you'll see four or five cloaks spawn on a single spot and get stuck inside each other.
I'm thinking about giving up on my wizard orc already... go sword and board or two handed instead... probably still orc... they are really good melee characters so... or sneaky archer maybe! :O
If you use a 2 handed weapon, you cant use a shield. Ergo, you dont benefit from the enchant of a shield.
Going to High Hrothgar is not meant for low level characters and you have to grind for levels and improve your defensive/ offensive skills before you go there.
