144hz Monitor Issue - FIX
OP: I was hoping that this would be fixed with the Special Edition but it seems to not be. Objects fly around the rooms like crazy when a door/gate opens. Is the only fix still to limit your Skyrim FPS to 60? I would really like to avoid that.

NEWEST UPDATE (works like a charm):
Left iVSyncPresentInterval set to 1 and added this to Skyrim.ini at the bottom:
[HAVOK]
fMaxTime=0.0069

Other settings that may work best for you:
fMaxTime=0.0333 is for 30fps, may help performance on slow computers
fMaxTime=0.0166 is for 60fps
fMaxTime=0.0133 is for 75fps
fMaxTime=0.0111 is for 90fps
fMaxTime=0.0083 is for 120fps
fMaxTime=0.0069 is for 144fps
fMaxTime=0.0042 is for 240fps+

I set iVSyncPresentInterval back to 1 because limiting my fps to 144 on my 144hz monitor makes it look much smoother to me.

OLD UPDATE (that works but may have consequences):
Well, I've found out that forcing the game to run at 105 fps is the best I'll get. Here's how I did it:
1. Change "iVSyncPresentInterval" to "0" in the SkyrimPrefs.ini file.
2. Limit game to 105 FPS using whatever method you prefer. I ended up using RivaTuner Statistics Server because I already had it installed with MSI Afterburner.

Physics seem to be pretty good so far. I open doors and gates and objects don't go flying all over the place.

Unfortunately capping it below 144 Hz really ruins the experience of using such a high refresh rate monitor in the first place. :(

It's disappointing that this special edition still doesn't properly accomodate high refresh rate moniters, which weren't exactly new at release, nor ultra-wide monitors. Can't help but feel that both the FPS cap and FOV issues exist purely to accomodate consoles... :/

theres a fix for ultra wide monitors works for my 21:9 monitor.

the truth is this remaster is only a more polished version of the original with god rays better textures and 64 bit address bethesda never really bothered to correct all the other issues which is typical i was dissapointed myself they still didnt have 21:9 Ultra Wide Support like always the community has to fix their mistakes.

Got link? :3

I tried using a utility but it just crashed the game each time. I can't stand the TV-centric FOV. Especially on this screen, it's like looking at the world through a keyhole...

Update..

been using this setting for the last 2 hours in various dungeons, open world..etc. Not a single issue yet. and im going well above 120fps regularly and locked at 144fps many times.

So far its been flawless. I think the person who came up with the setting needs to get a big pay on the back.

Good to hear. I'm really happy with this setting too so far.
So last update I'll give on this.

Played for 9 hours today (I have no life,lol) and I can verify for me I found zero issues at all today with my 144hz monitor and high fps rates. No wonky physics, no flying mammoths , everything worked :)

The tweak the op listed from reeddit is solid

Any ideas for why this isn't working for me when using Mod Organizer 2? I've edited the SkyrimPrefs.ini in MyGames/Special Edition and in Mod Organizer 2's profile/default/skyrimprefs.ini to say fMaxTime=0.0069 (it doesn't matter where the line is added right?).
It worked for me in vanilla Special Edition, but not when launching through Mod Organizer.

Sounds like you are putting the lines in the wrong .ini file. Try the Skyrim.ini instead.

Edit: Also, are you including "[HAVOK]" as a line before the fMaxTime?

^^ This. I have been using this method for the original Skyrim as well as Fallout 3 and 4. I have found that 110FPS is the MAX you can go without suffering issues with the physics. I lock fps at 105 just to be safe.

BTW I use Nvidia Inspector to cap my fps as once you set it for a specific game you don't need any program running in the backround.

The newer method that I updated in my original post is working much better and allows for 144+ fps. You should check it out instead.

I will try it out later tonight after work. Although it is hard to believe that 144fps wont mess up the physics.

It doesn't, works perfectly for me when I'm not using MO. Might face some issues with heavy scripted saves once SKSE is out, but that's a slight might.
