Need help with Purity (quest) (spoilers)

I couldn't get this quest in the original game, and now I can't get it in the Special Edition. Here's the rundown.

Purity is a quest to cure Farkas/Vilkas/yourself of lycanthropy (useful since there's no rested bonus as long as you can shift into beast form). Neither of the twins have ever offered this quest, and I've done randomized jobs for the both of them A LOT. (Both editions of the game.) I even have the Glenmoril Witch heads in my inventory, but it doesn't appear to make a difference. (Again, both editions.)

Currently, Farkas will not offer me any work unless I'm already running a job for Vilkas. Farkas states this if I try to get a job from him, and won't give me anything at all.

I've googled this issue and all the answers are years old and have not solved my problem.

Is anyone else having this issue? Has anyone actually resolved this problem after having it? Would it be possible to open the console and force the quest to pop without breaking anything?

just console it.

also the quest doesnt involve curing you just Farkas and Vilkas, you can cure yourself when ever you want.

I completed Glory of the Dead.

I actually just got a quest from Vilkas wanting me to run through the exact dungeon that killed Skjor again - Gallows Rock. (Krev the Skinner was alive - killed him again, found Skjor's body was still there.) Perhaps I had to do the quests over and over until that exact one pops? But it doesn't fit in with the plot at all if I kill the same guy twice. Lol, I guess.

Putting up my response in case others have the problem/are curious/this breaks anyway because I did it out of order.

that just sounds off, dunno man, you running vanilla or mods?

Yep it broke if I talk to Vilkas first about curing lycanthropy. I can't have any followers now. Time to kick up the old save.

No mods at all this time. Ignoring Vilkas, and Farkas offers jobs now. ┐(‘～`；)┌
