Try the above mod and see if it is to your liking. It is for SSE which I am playing and you didn't specify the game. To be honest with you once you get your lockpicking high enough the Skeleton key isn't a big deal. You see there is a perk where you lock pick won't break.
Firstly, you never read my post
-I said I don't want to waste perk points to get Unbreakable (6 perk points to get it is not worth it)
-I already listed that mod as one of the ones I found but don't want. I still want to do the mini-game, just not have the lockpicks break all the time.
Also, since this is the Skyrim Special Edition forum, I think it's pretty obvious that yes, I am playing SSE.
How do I add perks via console?
player.addperk 00058209
will give you the Unbreakable perk (you don't need the 000). As I say, this is at your own risk, make a manual (menu) save first, etc, but to the best of my knowledge it *should* be pretty safe (I never bother making skills Legendary so I'm not sure how perks added through the console work for that, if they get refunded, stay stuck on your character, or what, so if you are likely to want to do that, you might want to also test it by (after making another manual save so you can revert back) using the player.advskill command - depending what your current skill level is, you might try something like
player.advskill lockpicking 100000000
This may get you all the way to 100, or may be even more than you actually need. Generally using it one skill level at a time is safe enough, I believe, but as this is just a test, I'd not bother with that, just make sure you reload to before you did it once you've tested it as it could cause issues, especially if it goes way past 100. Anyway, do that (and repeat with a much smaller number if it's not enough - increments of 5000 should be fine) and then, checking that the Unbreakable perk is active, try making the skill Legendary - I would guess you'd get a perk point refunded, but it may stay 'stuck' there, or it may just vanish without refunding the perk point. I suspect the Legendary Skill mechanism can't distinguish between perks added with the console or through conventional means, though.
