Mod Packs Like Ultimate Skyrim?
Starting modding from nothing is going to be ruff. Anyone know some decent modpacks similar to the many good ones from oldrim?

I recommend u search a Youtube, named Sinitar Gaming, amazing content, he teach even the most newbie mod, he has different guides in his blog/domain (i dont know, if is this : "sinitargaming.com" etc) but if u go to the youtube u'll find the right link in the latest videos, btw they have a discord which help u modding and all.

Here's an article on Mod Packs by a very well known mod author, and one of the authors behind the Unofficial Patch. It's a bit of reading but it will help you understand why mod packs are not a good thing. Especially considering the majority of them out there contain stolen/unauthorized mods.

I am pretty sure the author was just looking for something like a MOD PAACK COLLECTION on steam, pretty standard stuff. Instead you decided they needed a lecture about HOW to mod, and why to mod (or why/how not)...Here I will do my best to fulfil their original request, as this is where I am at as well. I have utter buckets n mounds of gaming experience. I just want to do the SKSE< the official patch, the engine fixer (whatever it is called) then something like say for instance THIS "Ultimate Mod Pack |140+ Mods|" IN THE STEAM WORKSHOP. Of coarse I am just figuring this out to make sure this is actually do-able with ease, as one of you two respondents stating this could be an issue (moddin always is, hah).

There is no Steam Workshop for Special Edition.

EDIT - @BlueAuran: see you posted the link for the collection on Nexus -
(though this is not really the place for people to comment on what should be added to your collection)

@Nox Tenebris
A knowledge of basic modding and how to go about it is always a good thing, however, it is true that some people really just do not have the time available. In that case, refer to NExus collections. These are pre-ensembled sets of mods that you can use. For more information on this, and a list of available collections, go here:
https://next.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/collections

One thing to take note of is the Success Rating for a collection. This rating is the percentage of users saying that it is working as expected - so you would want to use one with a very high success rating. Just be aware, that if you encounter a problem, only the individual who put the collection together will be able to help you with it, as only they know exactly how the collection was put together.

Of you do want to know just the basics of modding, there is this:

Wow, so all those things I was looking at (was still probably going to use Nexus anyways as when I did witcher/fallout4 that was de way:) only work with the version of Skyrim that steam kind of has hidden to purchase, the classic edition? I thought while I was looking through those Mods it wanted the SE and all the expansions (the 140 workshop one) yet because you seem to totally KNOW this game here, I will just leave it at that. Guess I have to look A LOT closer next time because that info MUST of been available and I missed it! So that collection that I listed seems to be ONE of the premier ones on Nexus, IT IS the second revision AND it is brand new, any comment on that one if you are familiar with it? Thanks for the knowledge here, this makes all our lives easier going forwards!

Yeah, if you were looking at Steam Workshop, that is only for the original version of the game, not SSE.

and yeah, as long as it's still in line with the TOS< I pretty much go all crazy with my freedom to do whatever, whenever :) AS you MAY of been able to surmise a little already with my BORDERLINE necro-ing a post :)

ONE last good aside tho for the OP and anyone else who may wish to know, THIS "Enderal: Forgotten Stories (Special Edition)" as the title now infers, IS workable with the SE edition right out of steam, so I will PROBABLY download this first before even playing with the Nexus idea next. You know it is funny, I am KIND of going against my own advice here, I always recommend a first playthrough without any moddin, just because of all the complexities. Yet I kind of want to balance that advice more for people with mounds of experience, probably going to regret my waffling here, hah!

So yeah, my GENERAL rule is avoid moddin on first playthroughs, so MAYBE I will do that by just playing Enderal or something first, then move to the base game with just the patches from the community (this is kind of the opposite of modding in some ways as far as stability goes usually).

Actually I did not realize this was a 2 year old thread - but still some solid info for those who happen to see this. And, by all accounts, Enderal: Forgotten Stories is an excellent game.

Right so, the solution I found is Wabbajack (https://www.wabbajack.org/gallery) and I haven't looked back. Sort by Skyrim or SE. Dozens of different mod packs made by teams of people that have put hundreds of hours into refining and bug fixing. My personal favorite, by far, is Librum. It is similar to Ultimate Skyrim.

Definitely worth checking it out to see if a modpack you want is there, and then adding what mods are missing for you. Most of these packs have dedicated discord servers (or just join Wabbajack's official) and you can ask people what mods work well with different modpacks. It has a pretty active community.

Well, I decided to go with Enderal for my first playthrough. I thought I would be weird this time and do something other than just play the vanilla like I always do. SO I will just pop the STORY MODE MOD onto it, and I should be awesome sauce to go. Then I will come back here when I wish to play the original game, and do what you have suggested with the packs, etc. Thanks, this thread is going to have some GREAT beneficial info for all those coming into this fresh!

There are several problems with mod pack.

1) People mistake the person who put the mod pack together with the Authors of the Mods.... Putting together a mod pack is not a hugely complicated task, creating a mod is, and people should know who the Mod author is.

2) You are trusting in someone else to do the legwork, each Modlist is put together to work on a person's computer, no two systems are identical, and what works on one does not necessarily work on another. And because someone else has put it together you don't know how to fix it.

3) If you run into issues the place you are going to go is the page for the modpack, except 90% (being generous here) of the people who put the mod packs together don't know how to fix any issues except the ones they encountered putting the mod pack together, so they will tell you to ask the mod authors, except you don't know which mos is the problem or where the mod pages for the various mods are....

So in summary, good luck with that.

so in summary. Just build everything yourself I guess is the same answer WE ALWAYS seem to get in these posts. I do concur, I have enough experience to realise the above post is telling it about as straight as you can possibly find anywhere! So there is that to remember. Just use Vortex. Take your collection you seem to like so much (and STEAM warned me off that page someone tried to link about packs so CAVEAT to all) and then just do them manually, and you will be saved TONNES of grief in getting everything smooth proper functioning!

Problem with modspacks, Wabbajack and collections is, especially for new modders, they don't know how to troubleshoot a load order. and as said every system is different. That said if you know the basics you can use it just for convenience

You are so wrong on all these points, which makes it apparent you haven't tried any of these. All the Wabbajack modpacks are curated and have multiple person teams constantly working on them. They have dedicated discord servers with active support threads that have helped fix basically all my issues in the past.

As for the "only on one computer", that is also ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ because they all get testers before releasing the modpack to the community, something that is required for Wabbajack to let you advertise your pack on their platform.

So, in summary, you are so pointedly wrong.
