I need Heimskrs voice...
So early on in the game I console killed Heimskr like a fool...
Later on I spawned him back in, because the deafening silence started to gnaw at my mind.

But...now he doesnt preach. He just stands there silent....

Is there a way to get him to start preaching again?

I need the Mighty word of Talos in my life again.

I just side with Imperials in Civil War to shut him up. Worth it

Reload a save from before you messed with the console; its the only way.

Otherwise keep playing with a broken save and pray that you don't run into a script that gets confused by the NPC being flagged as dead.

That save was like...weeks ago, maybe even a month. This is my first character.

Does not change a thing.

Once a named character has died their scripts stop, so you have revived a dead character with no scripts.... if you want Heimskr go back to a save from before you killed him.

This is exactly right. In one of my playthroughs, I accidentally killed Belathor during my werewolf transformation in the Companions quest line. I spawned him back in, but while he went back to his shop, the dialogue "what have you got for sale" wasn't there. When Belathor dies, Ysolda takes over his shop, and you can buy and sell from her. So, it didn't bother me at all. I always kill Heimskr as soon as I land in Whiterun. I cannot STAND that guy's annoying rhetoric!
I actually wanna kill Belethor on purpose, i don’t like his character.
And btw, i had no idea i can kill Heimsker, i think my vampic drain list is shaping up :lunar2019grinningpig:

Actually, one of Skyrim's most under-celebrated bugs is if you enter Whiterun for the first time at night, Heimskr's package bugs and he will, for the rest of that savegame, simply stand in front of the Statue of Talos without preaching.:steammocking:

There's a rescue mission for him? He can get captured? How do you trigger that quest, it would be nice to get some peace and quiet in Whiterun!

It is a Companions radiant quest. Receiving it is entirely random.

Good thing I just finished that questline, looks like I'm gonna grind for that quest lol

Thank you!

Hi, to make heimskrr preach again you can just bind its preaching script through console. I have opened a thread here about his silence some time ago with the solution I found for that.

In my case, he didn't play because I entered whiterun during night. Thats a known issue with non-modded Skyrim; both SE and "oldrim". But the situation is the same of yours, he does not have the preaching script attached, so he doesn't do it.

Sorry, I'm a little lazy to search to the topic now, I'm sure you can easily find it if you just search for "Heimskrr" here. If you have trouble finding it, let me know.

For all those saying they "fixed" it after he was dead - no, you haven't. Oh, you may have gotten a Heimskr "zombie" to voice the lines, but as far as the game is concerned, Heimskr is dead. The death script has run, the save has him marked as dead, and quests.will be broken - and quests are not just what you see in your journal, a quest as far as the game programming goes is something as mundane as an interaction that an NPC may have with others - anything which calls upon that NPC. And it is entirely possible that, at some point, the game will get an internal dilemma, with one Heimskr being recorded as dead and yet another being called on to interact - and that is where you get CTDs. The full, long winded, but true and accurate info can be found here:
Regarding Use of Console Commands

Your only option if you want to avoid issues down the road, is to go back to your last save before you used the command. Now, it is entirely possible that with a minor unique NPC such as Heimskr you may luck out - but that is all it is, luck. So,I guess the question you have to ask yourself is, are you feeling lucky?

Doesn't mean he's less than 100% correct, the OP's save has cancer slowly growing and eventually the tumor will burst open and kill the save.

The only question is whether or not the OP will abandon the save before it dies or not.
