Which race do dwemer most resemble?

I know there is one dwemer character who you can still meet in Elder Scrolls (Yagrum Bagarn), but he's missing half of his body and is probably not a good representative of the race.

From the all the races that you can choose to play as in Skyrim, which one most resembles dwemer aka. dwarf race to play as?
I'm not looking for a correct answer, I just want to see your points of view and hear your subjective opinion on the subject.

I'm asking because I want to create a character who is really into Dwemer colture and possibly has some ties to the extinct race.

Something to keep in mind is that the Dunmer's gray skin is a result of a curse from Azura. They had been Chimer, a group of Aldmer (probably resmbling the modern Altmer) who left to persue Daedra worship and find their "true" homeland. Morrowind spoilers: After the Battle of Red Mountain between the Chimer and the Dwemer, Vivec, Sotha Sil and Almalexia used the "profane" tools of Kagrenac on the Heart of Lorkhan to become living gods. Some say they went so far as to kill Indoril Nerevar, the Chimer leader, when he forbade it. Azura, Nerevar's Daedra patron, then cursed the Chimer/Dunmer for this betrayal and abandoning of daedra worship.

This all happened in First Era, 700, some 3700 years before Skyrim is set. Details are a little fuzzy, but the Chimeri exodus was in either the late Dawn Era, or the mid Merethic Era. So the Chimer and Dwemer had been in contact for some time. There's apparently no definite story about how/when the Dwemer emerged as a distinct race. But they may have been another off-shoot of the Aldmer. Unlike the Chimer though, I believe they didn't worship any of the gods or daedra.

One of the elf races, since dwemer are elves too. My guess would be snow elves, no real reason for it tho.

Dwemer actually destroyed the snow elves and turned them into falmer.

the dwemer from morrowind is not white colored.

I didnt play morrowind yet, so i couldnt know. Also there is more to appearance then skin color.

I know, its hard to miss him. I said that bc i didnt know the skin color of the dwemer in morrowind.

The dwemer in Morrowind had Corprus disease. Corprus means skin blight and as such, we cannot trust Yagrum's skin color on the matter.
That said... his skin is pretty pale.
They probably closest resemble the ancient falmer or maybe the dunmer due to geography; the dwemer also lived in the far north regions of Skyrim and Morrowind. Their skin was likely pale due to insufficient exposure to sunlight, as their cities were built underground. I'm hesitant to say the dunmer because the ancient falmer have lived in the area about as long as the dwemer would have, whereas the chimer moved in a bit later.
In terms of races you can actually play, probably a pale altmer (high elf). A dark elf might work, but their skin color would be off.

They are not a extinct race, they vannish and they might had a finger with the aldur the dragon has been moved in time first time, but to stop a world destroyer is not that easy ( aldur delayed world destruction so they might come up with a solution maybe ? ), i was onetime into alot of lore, but i have played to many other games, and elder scroll lore is not my topic anymore , but if others know better and played all serie then trust them. i know there is alot of youtube videos with it. maybe that is even better with some popcorn and soda to get it refreshed.

problem with my games is i have to many RPG and remember every detail is impossible then i have played so many they have many semi same point and its start to get a little blur then you have been a gamer over 30-40 years.

and it do require a full study person in lore to graps it all , but game is spread out over many years and that itself is a issue. and many book ingame talk about it as historie and not real a part of the current main game so they are very hard master all lore. ( and im more a gamer then historie nerd ) but i think it was skyrim that actual explan this with the elder scroll you find in the game or the other one you find in the game.

As far as I could tell they might just be Mer/Elves who have regular human skin tones, with beards. Altmer have a yellow-ish skin tone. Dunmer have a grey. Snow Elves extremely pale, etc.

yes they are elfs but, they are one of the first and thats why they are so fare ahead then rest of the elfs that they don't see them as brothers.
