Elder Knowledge bug?

After I went into a "building" (with workbench, alchemy map and arcane enchanter), and left out I die mysteriously. JUst the moment I go out, I see my character dead while hearing a sound of an explosion, or fire (also I see a blue light). I tried to load a previous safe file, and I died again, even though I didn't dided when I made the safe. I can't progress the quest, and even the game, because I die when I get out. Is that a Bug? Can it be fixed?

Chances are there was an enemy just outside the door that was one shotting you.

But I killed all of them, and I died from an explosion...I don't think, that it was an enemy. Now I returned there, and there are no enemies...and I'm not dying...

Could've been a rune an enemy casted.

I think I know what it might be. The building you came out of, was it Sinderion's Field Laboratory in Blackreach. If so, there is a huge dwemer crossbow thingy opposite, pointing at the front door, and when fired it shoots big bolts at you like a rocket launcher.

I think its meant for you to use when you first enter Blackreach, and there's a Dwarven Guardian Sphere patrolling outside the front door, but you may not have seen the crossbow and its been accidently triggered when you enter or exited the laboratory and blown you up instead. That's my theory anyway.

I actually saw it, and I also tried to use it vs. the sphere, but it missed. But I think, that it is the crossbow.

I just experienced the same issue. In my case, I pulled the switch, and it missed. So I tried to quickly pull it again (leaving it pulled this time) and nothing happened of course. Exiting the building, however, I was immediately blown up. Potential bug, I would say. Perhaps the crossbow reloading, and recognizing a pulled switch when entering Blackreach again.
