Exploration Music plays everywhere\won't stop.
I'm at my absolute wit's end with this bug that came out of nowhere.

The Bug: Skyrim's choice for background music is comprised of 3 of the "Exploration" tracks, and nothing else. It will swap to combat music for combat, but then it goes straight back to the explore tracks regardless of location or circumstance. (The tracks it plays are "Dawn" and "The White River" most often.)

Currently, I'm in Apocrypha and there is absolutely no reason these tracks should play in that location. (As well as hearing Skyrim exploration music in Dragonborn zones, and Bruma zones (For BS:B))

What I've tried:

-I've attempted to use the console to "removemusic x" to get the music to fade. I tried this command with literally every track that is listed by "help mus", and the music persists.

-I've tried a save cleaner, removing any and all orphaned scripts and abandoned threads. Music persists.

-I tried using the save cleaner to manually erase literally every script active on my save that even has "mus" "musc" or "music" in the name. Music persists.

-I've installed the mod "Kill the Orchesta SE" and told it to add silent tracks in place of every exploration track. Music persists.

-I then told it to replace EVERY track with silent tracks. Music persists.

-I have attempted to just let the game sit idle for 20~45 minutes to see if it just needed to get the tracks "complete" to remove some kind of flag. Music persists on a loop.

The only clue I have for a possible solution is that occasionally, when I fast travel to a city, the game will play the "Dungeon cleared" chime. So it feels like there's some dangling code or flag that is or isn't set. But I don't see how with the above steps those wouldn't have been resolved.

After googling and redditing every possible audio bug I could find and trying all of the solutions people have listed to no avail, I've just run out of options. Maybe someone here can offer a suggestion or way to correct this mysterious error?

Other facts:

The save is 'old', with most of the map cleared. I know Skyrim sometimes goes loopy the longer a game has existed, but save cleaning normally corrects this.

I briefly had the "Fantasy Soundtrack Overhaul" installed, until I learned of its incompatibility with Bruma, Dawnguard and Dragonborn. (You can find another similar post of mine in the comment section of that mod, as I believe it is the most likely culprit.) While I do think this mod might be to blame, I uninstalled it DOZENS of hours ago and the error is fairly new. So it might not be?

Creating a new character or loading a save from ages past (Something I'd really, really rather not do. ) corrects the error, with Dragonborn and Bruma music playing at their appropriate times and places.

Anyway, I'm happy to provide more info if needed. I'm basicly looking for a way to force Skyrim to just stop playing all its music and double-check what the current situation is. It seems to permanently think I'm exploring the tundra around Whiterun during the day, regardless of anything.

Thanks in advance, Skyrim community folks, for any constructive help.

Every Where you go, People wanna know.

Try verify Game Cache, uninstall and Reinstall too if that doesn't work. If you don't trust Steam Cloud back up your saves manually. Than install the mods you using besides the incompatable audio one.

Is just turning the music down in settings not an option? If you don't want to do that then maybe try Additional Music Project, this adds 17 new exploration tracks so it might help.

If that fails you could remove the xwm files from your game manually. Which will remove the music.

See, I'd say a reinstall would fix it but new characters\old saves don't have the issue. The break is somewhere in my save. Appreciate the suggestion though.

I could turn the music down\off but that's a bummer. Might be my only option at this point though, I'm completely out of ideas. The fact Kill the Orchestra can't even silence these exploration songs is the most baffling part.

turn off the music. I find the music immersion breaking. And it always gives away when a battle is imminent.

Oh I love the music, it's part of the reason I rated this game so highly. Jeremy Soule is a genius. He really captured the atmosphere of Skyrim.

jojo, you changed your avatar. I turn off the music of every game i play. It just distracts me. I play for immersion and since there is no sound track playing constantly in my real life, i turn off the music. I do listen to the radio stations for a time, since this is what i do in real life. I listen until i get sick of the same thing over and over again.

That's my main character in Black Desert Online. lol :) (Of which I enjoy the music too)
I only turn the music off in games if I dislike the track or it's just too repetitive and I'm sick of hearing it!

i bought that game during the summer sale ($6 is cheap). I played it for a few hours and found it massively boring. I will try it out again sometime in the future, but i am not exactly a fan of mmos, so i wasn't surprised that i didn't like the game. I have to say, the game has some of the most beautiful character creation i have ever seen in any game.

Lol, it is sort of boring but in a "I'm so addicted to this crafting it's probably a bit like being on crack" interesting way. The combat is fun, I think. (I'm playing a sorceress which is unusual for me as I usually do the whole warrior build thing and I'm actually enjoying it).

Anyway got off topic...
