Fast mouse clicks don't register
So basically i'm having an issue with mouse clicks sometimes not registering with certain weapons. If I have either

1. Only a one handed weapon equipped

2. A two hand weapon equipped

3. Two weapons equipped (i.e. duel wielding)

then the game doesn't register my mouse clicks if they are too fast. We aren't talking about absurdly fast clicks either. Basically a normal mouse click won't register, but if you hold down the mouse button for even 0.2 seconds then it registers. In menus, the game always registers my mouse clicks no matter how fast.

The weirdest part, is that if I equip a sword in my main hand, and a spell in my off hand, then it will always register mouse clicks and the issue is gone. Same goes for a sword and shield. It is only the 3 weapon combinations listed above that cause issues.

There is nothing wrong with my mouse or my drivers. It's a Skyrim problem. A few others have had this problem also. No fix so far.

All I see is double click speed is that what you meant. I've changed pointer speed and double click speed. Didn't fix.

Same issue. Took me 300 hours of playing before I spotted the issue, until now I thought it was my ♥♥♥♥ PC lagging to register the input, but no.

You say it's the same thing in Fallout 4, and I found another thread about this from the TESOnline community...

Bethesda engine bug, and no one seems to care.

ESO does not use the same engine as Fallout 4

skyrim sucks at registering input, and it sucks even more if fps is lower than 60 or depending on keyboard or mouse model. My previous keyboard had no problems with f1-f12 keys in skyrim, but with the current keyboard sometimes I need to press f1-f12 keys multiple times before they get registered. This is the only game that shows such stpid behaviour. Bethesda.

but if it's dependent on the keyboard in use, is it then not more likely to blame the particular keyboard then the game where the majority of players dont encounter this issue?

I've started playing Fallout New Vegas it doesn't have this bug. I tested with a machete no matter how fast the click it always registers. My fps is always 60 in all these old games. In fallout 4 the guns shoot perfectly but when I use melee fast clicks don't register. The bug has to do with how they implemented melee and it affects very few people. They did it right with FNV. I've reinstalled my OS/Drivers/the game nothing fixes it. I will update my specs you can see that nothing is unusual about my system that could cause the issue.

I know what would fix it. Someone needs to write a mod that spoofs the game to think you've always got a shield or a bow equipped, as they don't have this issue.

I found the fix but it makes dual casting and dual wielding attacks work 1/2 of the time because of bad design. Every one handed attack has that hold delay. It corresponds to the maximum time difference between left and right click to be interpreted as dual click. With the tweak bellow, a very quick and small click will still work. You can use up to 0.05 which is default value according to your needs. If you are a mage or dual wielding character, I suggest not using this tweak at all, not worth it:

Skyrim.ini->
[Controls]
fDualCastChordTime=0.01

Noticed the same issue, but I don't recall having this bug when I originally bought the game. I just use a controller, which at 60fps feels much better and that stupid delay and inconsistency with the attacks are gone.

Just want to say I'm having this same issue and am playing on PS4. Was thinking my controller was broken. But if I go into the inventory and drop a stack, I can quickly press my R1 and L1 buttons to increase and reduce stack size. But if I press r1 too quickly to swing my weapon, the press isn't registered.

That's a feature, not a bug. The only way to keep from going insane is to go click pause click pause.

Praise be!
That's a feature not a bug, in my experience. I've always had to click, pause click.
