Quest Troubles. (Skalds a ♥♥♥♥)

Anyone know how to force a quest to start with console commands?
Skalds a lazy beyotch and wont give me the 'kill the giant' quest, so i can buy a bloody buildable house.

Other quests can interfere with this one. If you have a fetch quest, or another kill quest, Skald might not give you one. I would suggest clearing any "Bring me X object" or "Kill X monster" quests from your log, and then try Skald again.

If you console command it to force start, it will most likely screw up other quests and/or break your game completely. That's an option of last resort.

Have you fully completed the Skull of Corruption i.e. spoken to Erandur after it was over (assuming you didn't kill him)?
Did you get the "Completed" popup?

Also, you might try jumpstarting it by selling ore to the mine owners, and retrieving the Void Salts for the boat captain. Sometimes you have to get "known around town" first.

Haven't really started ♥♥♥♥ in the civil war,
Skull of Corruption was completed, completely- not so Erandur sided.. but still completed complely, out of the active log, into the finished quests... with a shiny staff.
The only thing i ''''''''have''''''''' to do is get some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ salts.

If it's the Salts for that Captain in Dawnstar, that might be interfering with Skald giving you his quest. I'd suggest finishing it real quick, then go back and talk to Skald. A lot of the side/radiant quests will interfere with each other causing some to be unavailable. Both of these are radiants, so it could be the cause of it.

If either of these bug out, you can type help favor and see the list of Thane quests, then setstage favor2xx (whatever the number is) 20 and it'll pop up with Return to Skald.

OKAY. the voidsalt thing worked.. well.. granted i had to mill n piss about first,
had a long rest, smacked a Dragon's Phat cake around the dock, THEN Skald wanted me to kill the giant. finally..

Yeah. The radiant quest system is a pain in the ass at times, especially when there's one specific quest you want to complete. I am always screwing up and taking Rustlief's Night Falls on Sentinel quest without having one. Then it prevents a few others that I want to complete from even showing up. Nice system, but the frustration it generates can be intolerable at times.
