Load order won't save + SkySe UI deactivates randomly?
Hey guys,
for some reason I'm unable to save any changes I make to my load order when I try to sort it via the game's main menu? So basically, new mods just get added at the bottom and I have no way of sorting them properly which obviously leads to all sorts of bugs etc.. Also, for some reason SkySE UI seems to deactivate itself even though I tried to activate it before? :X Any help/suggestions?

The internal manager will deactivate mods that don't have skyrim.esm as a master. My suggestion to fix both of your problems? Migrate as much of your load order as possible(preferably all) to an external manager such as mod organizer 2 or vortex.

New mods are always deactivated by default, and deactivated mods are dropped at the bottom of the list, even if they're based on Master files. I've done a few new ones recently and they all go right to the bottom the first time because they're not active yet.

SkyUI, still deactivates each time, and even moves itself to the bottom of the list once activated (I like to keep deactivated mods below active mods, but SkyUI drops to the bottom as soo as I activate it). It's not too much of a hassle to reactivate it, though. Skyrim's not a "just wanna blow through it for a few minutes" kind of game for me.

All other mods stay where I put them once activated. If you're just rearranging them and not activating them, that could be the problem. Activate it first, then position it. I can't say for sure if that part matters, but that's the way I do it, and it works. If you're positioning them first then activating, that could be the issue.

Try it that way, and if your load order is still not saving, make a backup of Plugins.txt in Users\name\AppData\Local\SkyrimSE, then delete the original.

Launch the game in Windowed mode and open your backup copy in a text editor, then rebuild your load order in-game to that, then return to the main menu, and exit to desktop, then launch again in full screen.
The CC patches could be corrupting your plugins.txt again like it did when it was first introduced, but I haven't had that problem since then, so I don't think it's that.

I can also see this being a permissions issue with Windows. Go to the Skyrim Special Edition installation folder (usually C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\Common\...), then right-click on the folder, and then click on properties. If the box next to Read-only is black or checked, click until the box is clear, then click apply and "OK" too and let Windows do its thing. Then go to the \user\...\My Games\ folder, then click the Skyrim Special Edition folder and repeat the previous steps.

If you need additional instructions, ask me.
