*Spoilers* Question about Sovngarde and Unique NPCs

Okay, I'm not going to bother using the spoilers feature to hide this text as it's in the title of this thread.

As many of us know already, we can meet up with some fallen comrades in Sovngarde at the end of the main storyline. Ulfric Stormcloak and Kodlak Whitemane for starters. One thing I noticed was that, after defeating Alduin, characters like Ulfric and Kodlak would walk up to you and you could talk to them. However, I've always noticed that if Ulfric and Kodlak are alive at this point, I'd run into High King Torygg. When Ulfric and/or Kodlak was dead at that point, I'd see him and not Torygg.

My question is, can these unique NPCs be devoured by Alduin in the mist? I've hoped to see Ulfric, Galmar, Kodlak, and Torygg at the end of the battle together. But I can never seem get this to happen. Especially with Torygg as it seems he only appears if none of the others are dead.

i think its matter of civil war before Sovngarde´, that can lead to this. but not sure how this is possible then you do goto Mountain and get a treaty as long the dragon is roming and do havok.

could be mod issue. but what cause it i dont know.

The only answer I can give is you never see Alduin consume any soul, some flee if they are accompanying you, but all that happens is you lose sight of them, and you never see them again.

Their ultimate fate is never disclosed, one way or the other. You plain simply do not know.....

Thanks for the ideas. I remember playing on console (before mods), before PC. I remember one playthrough when I saw High King Torygg there. Another playthrough I did the main storyline after finishing The Companions storyline. I found Kodlak easily enough, but never found Torygg. It always seemed like Torygg would only appear so long as nobody else appeared.

Still, it was always rewarding to see Kodlak's smile in Sovngarde.
