Can anyone give advice how to make deadly mutilation work?
for Skyrim LE. I did follow the steps, it seems to work from some aspects but doesn't have the full splitting in half effects etc.

Hi KLB! Saw your request, and did see this here, but I've never used the mod and I don't like to comment on things I know nothing about - LOL! I mean, the most I could tell you is to try reinstalling it, but beyond that, well I just wouldn't be much use. But I'll ask and see if anyone else knows and will post the link back to this thread. Just be patient, and good luck!

I believe, from what I remember of that mod, it can only have dismemberment on NPCs in vanilla armour, so that would be my first question, are they wearing vanilla gear?

I was just reading through the original oldrim mod page ...

Did you also convert all of the meshes when you ported the mod. It seems this mod never really got fixed past being a little buggy in oldrim. It's script based and has pretty strict skeleton requirements. I'm assuming it works with XPMSSE, i wouldn't trust installing any of the custom skeletons provided in this case.

I took 20 mins to research the topic and have a chat and it seems like even the LE version of the mod was unstable to begin with. I mention this because any attempts I read about in porting that mod either continued that reputation and gave CTDs (mainly due to the fact that XPMSSE does not like to be overwritten) or ended like yours, half-baked. A scarce few people claimed success, but then they dropped off the grid whenever anyone asked after their efforts. So, I'm inclined not to believe them. Then there were talks of piracy and dropbox links and at that point I put it to search to rest. All in all, OP. You may have to let this one go.

Considering all that is said, KLB, best bet is to drop it. That's the best advice I can give. Any mod that causes issues or may potentially cause them, just dump it - that's one reason I've managed to create such large stable, CTD free builds

I thought i'd add my load order to give you guys an idea about whats in my game and whats being loaded etc, to see if theres anything missing regarding DM. also to see if my load order is correct, bear in mind I havent used LOOT for a long time, additionally because honestly the game seems very stable in comparison to years ago when I used to mod my game. but here it is just incase.

Did you read any of the replies? It's generally probably not a good mod to use, but if you insist on trying, doesit work on NPCs in the vanilla armours I listed that are the ONLY ones compatible?

It does yes, BUT i felt it wasn't 100% .. honestly probably just gonna abandon the mod tbh
I posted load order to see if there was any mod issues conflicting..
but it seems its probably just a garbage mod. even though extremely cool in concept.

Okay, so it works on the armours it works on and doesn't work on the other ones? Sounds like, in this respect, it's working as expected.

It's not probably a good mod to use though for the reasons other people said, honestly not worth the risk of it borking your saves.

Just know, when you remove it, you will need to either go back to a save made before installing it, or start a new game. See the following for the reasons this is necessary if you are wondering why:

As of 2024 for Skryim SE Steam (Or whatever it may be, most of my working mods are AE ver) but despite my messy knowledge and load order, the mod is working (So far) when (in mod organizer) I separated the core+mesh mods (just rename so it doesn't want to overwrite/merge) and put both mods to the top of the list past everything.
