Controller Configuration Won't Apply
Currently using steam controller config to run an xbox one controller. Updated my current layout with a few minor changes and applied as usual. Reopen the game and it's still using the old layout. Game restart, computer restart, even deleted all old controller layouts so that the only one I have is the one I'm trying to use and saved it as a whole new layout, and it's still using the old one. Anyone think they could help?

Are you running in Big Picture mode? Sometimes when applying a controller to the game for the first time I find I must at least add it in Big Picture mode.

You shouldn't have had to delete the rest.

Did you try an altogether different suggestion?

Yeah I have. No luck. I think what might be happening is it's loading the configuration that's applied to the vanilla Skyrim launcher rather than the SKSE64 launcher, which I have set to launch through steam as well. I'm not 100% certain but I'm about to test that out. Thanks for the advice though. Will update.

Yeah that was the problem. Idunno why I didn't think to try that sooner... A whole hour of my life spent trying to figure out whether or not steam hates me or I'm just an idiot lol

What was the problem?

I use SKSE64 and a x1x controller and have never had a problem.

I have SKSE set up in my steam library so I can use steam's controller support, and I was trying to edit the controller config via the SKSE page, rather than the actual game page, but when you boot SKSE it boots using the controller layout that's set for vanilla skyrim. I'm probably doing an absolutely terrible job of explaining this but that's the best way I can put it lol.....

You don't have do go through all that.

Like I said - I use x1x controller with a normal Skyrim Se setup using SKSE64 directly.

I don't even have to run in Steam Big Picture mods.
