Rediculous "jumps" in difficulty | Hamelyn massively OP

So I'm playing the game for the first time and mostly enjoying it. But there is one HUGE problem. While 99% of the game is relatively easy and nice to play, at times, the difficulty changes drastically.

For example, right now I'm at the quest "Dampened Spirits". i have to kill Hamelyn and I'm stuck. Simply can't do it. He is so ♥♥♥♥ing strong.

1. I'm level 26, playing two-handed with heavy (orc) armor. In direct combat he 3 shots me in under 10 seconds.
   
2. He kills me faster than I can use potions, all kinds of magic resistance, lightning resistance and other stuff potions don't help at all
   
3. Tried stealth but my stealth level is rediculously low, he notices me and then kills me
   
4. I tried beast form but he still does absurd damage

Can anyone help me? how do I defeat this ♥♥♥♥♥?

Is it - due to being a thief guild quest - only possible for stealthy builds?

well just read the wiki he can have a health of 441

I killed him at level 21. I'm a vampire wearing light armor and using dual wield scimitar swords. When I went in I stayed on the right side of the cave so he is behind the rock post. That gave me enough time to get one shot of my vampire drain on him as he came around the post and then I sliced him up.

If you take Marcurio from the Bee and Barb as a follower he can handle him. Marcurio is an awesome spell throwing nut and is quite strong. When I played as a normal character, not a vamp I took Marcurio with me and let him deal with Hamelyn while I killed the rats. :)

I just died 3 more times. Quitting for today. This is frustrating, AI magic seems so OP, the scaling is terrible.

Tomorrow I will try killing him with a follower!

You can always come back after leveling up some more.

killed him with an enchanted fire sword by using steadfast ward to get up close,
or you could sprint up to him and gut him from behind while he is busy with a flame atronach or follower

hamelyn is the crazy skeever dude in honningbrew right?

as an orc you have berserker rage, which is insanely powerful

you mentioned beast form; which is an even better option; your running power attack (not sprint) ragdolls humanoids; you should be able to cc lock the ♥♥♥♥ out of him
