Heavy armor pros: Useless, making the choice easier.

Light armor pros: Reaches the same armor value as HA only without the penalties (normal people call this sh*t game design).

Heavy armor cons: Exists for some reason.

Light armor cons: None.

1h pros: None.

2h pros: None.

Dual Wield pros: None.

Bow pros: All of them. You have absolutely no reason not to play this game as a stealth archer and since you're already asking which of the playstyles is best I'll just assume you care about becoming as powerful as possible (as if it's even hard in this game). Well there you go. Stealth archer.

Bow cons: Makes every other "playstyle" (all of them are the same thing really) in this game useless.

There's also staves in the game... for whatever reason.

Staff pros: ???

Staff cons: ∞

Heavy armor imo is strictly for looks.
-too slow in a full set
-too many points needed to make it viable (less weight, faster speed, less fall dmg)
-too slow in combat

Plus once you max ench/smithy you can hit armor cap in light. Its just a clear choice, unless you're RPing

I primarily do bows, and have no love for sword and board...too damn slow on the TTK
With that said, I only use 2H sword (again unless RPing) for the speed and crits.
Warhammers = WAAAAAAAAY too slow in this game

i like stealth with daggers, no reason, just seems, as the saying goes, "badass"

that said, i have no love for bows, and would rather, for distance, use magic.. probably from all the other RPG's where bows are nothing but useless and magic is OP...

personally just go with whatever style you want... i tend to max out stealth, so i can sneak up on something in broad daylight and still not get spotted

heavy armour is alright, but without the perks, you move slower than light armour, and it weighs more, so early game its more cumbersome to carry...
ive never bothered with shields... although thats more down to me wanting stealth over taking the shots, i cant really comment on whether they are any use...

dual wield all the way, with the 50% increase in speed and full upgrades on swords... things dont tend to last long enough to hit you too many times... kinda renders the shield obsolete now i think about it....

staffs are useful early game.. and thats about it imo
without magic items that reduce costs on casting, once your out of mana, the staffs can take over... but overall they're weaker than spells in later games.. and you probably can already cast as much as you want by then....

I should clarify... it doesn't really matter what you choose. This game is hilariously easy. You won't really die no matter how you roll. Go in naked with a wooden sword. Boom. Ultimate dragon slayer.

I'd say that's because the item balance in the game is pathetic. Althought it indeed is, it's far from the only reason. The entire game in it's core is just built from dried up sh*t. Even if it had the best item system it would have still been the massive flop that it is right now. It simply isn't put together well. It's put together terribly infact. Not only are it's components held together by 10 year old dry glue but the components themselves are also absolutely terribad.

As I said, do whatever you want and do it on legendary. Just see how you go through the entire game with ease either way. And no, getting 1 shot by a bandit isn't "challenging" it's, again, sh*t game design.

I'm currently using a Heavy Armor with Light Weight Boots, & Medium Weight Arms, no helmet...

I am Duel Weilding a Sword & War Axe with Magic Attached... But i'm also using a Bow & Arrows, & Magic in my left Hand... Kinda like Alternating Weapons, I also have a Mace...

I think this works really well with Heavy Armor, I think a 2 Handed Weapon would be bad for Heavy Armor so i'm not using them...

Medium Armor is probably the best over all Armor, it has better protection then Light Weight, & it's lighter then Heavy...

Light weight is bad, because it has low protection, but it's really light, so I dunno,
you'll need to kill your enemies quicker with that Armor, otherwise your in trouble...

Another good thing about Heavy Armor is, has anyone tried Training in Heavy Armor, used it for a long time, & then switched to Light or no Armor? I have not tried, but I bet you would have a huge result with this tactic...

Rather then just using Light Weight Armor from the start... Almost light Training with Heavy Weight Clothing, & then doing Combat with Light Weight, it would probably level up your Light Weight faster... Again, I am just wandering if this actually works, or if Skyrim doesn't work that way...

You're thinking way too much. None of your "strategies" really mean anything.

I based my info off basic knowlage of what the Armor is for...

Weather Skyrim uses this Basic Knowlage, or not, is beyond me...

I just know that using the right Armor choice for your Character... Really depends on what Weapons you use...

I mean do you really want a really heavy Weapon for the lightest Weight Armor?
Wouldn't the purpous be to use lighter weight weapons, & use your Speed to kill
your targets?

Also, I have not tested out any of these theories I have for Skyrim, I just know my Armor seems to be working well in Game right now...

Btw, I think Weapon Weight is all over the place, i've seen Heavier Weapons with lighter Weight then Lighter ones... Like why is a wood cutting axe & Mace so heavy?

I've always found 1h and shield to be best all round, 2h is just too dam slow/boring and shields have some pretty nice perks and help a lot with survivability which depending on build, difficulty and mods can vary a lot, generally use heavy armor due to better early game survial and prefer the looks.

Archery is very powerful if you can keep stuff at range and most people tend to at least use it a bit even if it's just for plinking at dragons while they fly about.

Always depends on playstyle and what you like, you can make most things work
even unarmed if you want, they just migt not be the most efficient.

Sadly this is true, right now I'm wearing full set of Heavey Armor and have points into making HA stronger but whenever any enemy hits me it still takes a lot of damage from me, it feel nonexistent this so called extra protection.

I think I'm gonna reroll into some stealy mage thing I dunno.
Shrapnel Nov 10, 2016 @ 1:25pm
there is no medium armor
Lichdemon Nov 10, 2016 @ 1:25pm
I use light armor and either dual wield swords or axes (axes specifically for fighting undead, swords for dragons, bandits, etc.) with a bow being my secondary weapon I also use restoration as my main - and only - spell category, as it's pretty much required if you don't use alchemy or buy potions regularly. :P

@BattlePanda: I agree with most of what you said. My current character is a Redguard warrior Lev:32 strong bow strong one hand verstrong sneek(85) good shield. I have a follower and she jumps in and my sneek is so good I can use my bow and they never see me unless I move. If she gets introuble I can jump in with one hand asttack and help.
White Rabbit Nov 10, 2016 @ 1:29pm
1 hand sword & shield or ward with heavy armor & destruction magic because it looks good.
Why would you not want a set of armor made out of dragons?
