Now that you mention it i have this too.
Are you also using the Unofficial patch?
I'm curious if this was made because of the patch or an actual SE bug.
It's very troublesome. I'm lucky that i have played Skyrim in the past, had it has been my first time, i'd be completely lost with the broken Markers and Compass
The only such situation was Danwguard location - because pointer on the compass showed different entrance to the fortress.
Remeber... there is also Clairvoyance spell!
The Clairvoyance spell becomes broken because of that bug.
Still I cannot confirm any of the bugs you encounter.
It is not the game fault. It must be an incompatibility of a mod.
So the questmarker is directing you to go back the way you went, if you save and load, fast travel, or enter a new area, it should fix itself.
The issue is mainly outside in the outskirts of skyrim, not inside buildings.
Personally I only have a few active as it can get annoying and confusing with too many markers.
It's way worse than just that, for example if i'm advancing towards an area where i have a quest on, like advancing towards Dark water crossing, even though i'm facing the exact direction towards the location, the marker points out somewhere completely different or even disappears.
forcing me to keep opening the Map to actually know where i need to go.
