Quest marker/Compass is bugged?
I've been playing skyrim Special edition for a couple of days now and i've noticed a very bothersome bug.

The quest marker/compass is exteremly broken for me. Most quests aren't even appearing on the compass at all, and the ones that do , most have the marker completely wrong.

For example if my quest is to enter a specific cave, i could be looking directly at the cave but the marker points somewhere else , while pressing M and looking at the map does confirm that the cave infront of me is the correct place.

The only mods i'm using is the unofficial skyrim patch and achievmenet enabler.

Yep having the same problem. When you restart the game the markers usually come back for a little time and then they are gone again. Thought I was the only one having this.

I'm also having this. Minor inconvenience.

I've had some issues too. Something you didn't mention is having the map show you as facing a different direction than the one you're actually facing. That's happened to me a few times.

Sometimes the quest marker directs me to go through a passage in the wrong direction instead of directly forwards to the location I need to go. For example, if there's a passage (cave/tunnel) from the top of a mountain to the bottom, or a passage from one side of a mountain to the other, the quest marker will sometimes direct me to first go through that passage in a completely wrong direction even if I am standing right in front of the quest's actual destination. It's very irritating.

Now that you mention it i have this too.

Are you also using the Unofficial patch?

I'm curious if this was made because of the patch or an actual SE bug.

Nope, been using unofficial patch since start and I don't have the problem you're having.

It's very troublesome. I'm lucky that i have played Skyrim in the past, had it has been my first time, i'd be completely lost with the broken Markers and Compass

I have vanilla and I had never such issues (on standard as well as SE version) - your mods (unofficial patch is also a mod) must do it.
The only such situation was Danwguard location - because pointer on the compass showed different entrance to the fortress.

Remeber... there is also Clairvoyance spell!

The Clairvoyance spell becomes broken because of that bug.

Sorry to hear that. It works for me.
Still I cannot confirm any of the bugs you encounter.
It is not the game fault. It must be an incompatibility of a mod.

I used NMM, LOOT, and clean the .esm and mods with SSEEdit. USSEP latest version is after all dlc esm, other mods after that.

Sounds like you've gone through like, a tunnel or fort, and jsut parkoured your way down instead of going back the way you came.
So the questmarker is directing you to go back the way you went, if you save and load, fast travel, or enter a new area, it should fix itself.

The issue is mainly outside in the outskirts of skyrim, not inside buildings.

Try turning all your active quests off and then activate just one quest. If it works increase active quests again to the amount you want.

Personally I only have a few active as it can get annoying and confusing with too many markers.

Didnt seen any problems. Sometimes theres marker placed actualy infront of "cave" so when u get close to enterance, u pass marker and it just point behind you, thats all.

Too many active quests tend to bug the markers out. This was an issue in the old game as well.

It's way worse than just that, for example if i'm advancing towards an area where i have a quest on, like advancing towards Dark water crossing, even though i'm facing the exact direction towards the location, the marker points out somewhere completely different or even disappears.
forcing me to keep opening the Map to actually know where i need to go.
