wolf queen awaken quest not starting
I'm at level 81 and have completed 'the man who cried wolf'. I thought the unoffical patch is suppoose to make that carrier appear when I change area? Nothing.

Is there some sort of time delay or are there no one who haven't encounter this problem?

Lolz, I was just facing this exact same dilemma like 20 minutes ago, it was rather easy to solve.

Assuming you've finished the "The Man Who Cried Wolf" quest all you have to do is open the console and type in: setstage ms06 10

Then you will just have to wait for the courier (i recommend fast traveling a few times, then he'll show, i fast traveled from Whiterun to Morthal then back to Whiterun and voila).

Make sure that the status of the man who cried wolf is finished, to do so type getstage ms06start it's supposed to be 250. If it's not then you have to do this:

resetquest ms06start
setstage ms06start 250 (this will re-complete the quest and give you the rewards again)
setstage ms06 10

But if like me you've already finished the pre-requisite quest then just that last command should be enough.

Now however I'm having another problem where I always get a CTD at the end of the quest after I defeat potema's minions. /mad

Update: gods be praised! I found a solution!

The crash is apparently caused by any mods that alter the Jarl clothing that potema wears. To fix it I just have to rename "...meshes\clothes\yarlclothes03" to something else so the game wont find the files in there and use the default ones instead, and then I can just name it back after I'm done!

Awesome! Didn't expect an reply this fast, and it works!

Thanks a lot.

It takes a few days after The Man Who Cried Wolf quest has been completed. you'll then get a message from Falk Firebeard (or whatever his name is)

You're welcome. It was just a lucky coincidence for you I guess that I had just found the solution to this issue and I was about to come here to ask for help with my CTD issue when I saw your thread literally as the newest thread in the discussions.

In my case between the time I finished "The Man Who Cried Wolf" and the time I did the fix above, I did the Ahzidal armor set quest line (Unearthed) on solstheim which requires me to wait on not just one but 4 couriers (all taking a few days to arrive), and I did a lot more questing and playing, yet I just wouldn't get the Wolf Queen Awakened courier after weeks of in-game time. Clearly a bug, possibly caused by the unofficial patch.

I have both the Cutting Floor and the Unofficial Patch and all it took for the follow-up quest to start was to adventure for a few days. I am not sure how long, but it did take several days.

Several in-game days or real-time days?

Because I played for like 2 real-time days.

Anyhow, this is how the mod is supposed to work, glad it worked for you but some of us have to deal with bugs from time to time, it happens. I have the unofficial patch and cutting room floor as well.

that's why I stay away from clothing and armor mods that dress the world game NPC's and only choose the player only esp files for armors and clothes

I think its about a week in game and you may have to stay on the mainland for the time to count. But with all the curriers from that unearthed questline you may have encountered a conflict bug there.

Well normally I think that the ms06 quest is supposed to be set to stage 5 while it's waiting for a buffer time before the courier is supposed to come, then 10 when the courier is supposed to come to you and give you the letter, but before I did the thing I said to fix it, I ran getstage ms06 and it was set to 0, in other words it was never started after I finished the man who cried wolf like it was supposed to.

This bug is btw apparently common, many have encountered it throughout the years. (But ironically I couldn't find a clean answer to how to solve it like the one I gave earlier in this thread anywhere, i saw a couple of answers on uesp.net and had to deduct the solution from it myself)

I know this is an old thread, but I was trying to find a solution other than relying on the console, since that normally just ends up breaking my game in the long run.

But out of curiosity, did you talk to Elisif about placing Torryg's war horn thingamajig at the Talos Shrine just east of Whiterun? She mentions that you did some good at Wolfskull cave according to Falk. Perhaps that was another stage of the prerequisite you forgot to complete? [I'm doing that right now, hold on]

[EDIT]: Yup. If you didn't do Elisif's request you're probably not going to get the quest. Also, recommend Fast Travelling a few times after getting the request in the first place (I've been trying to limit it for immersion's sake), but it's worked.

I am necroing this thread because I couldn't find a solution other than pickpocketing, setting quest stages, or waiting, none of which worked for me (which in theory waiting would have worked but you'll see further why that wasn't plausible). If you're on PC, USSEP (Unofficial Skyrim Special Edition Patch) + USLEEP (Unofficial Skyrim Legendary Edition Patch) tracks the earliest start date for "Wolf queen awakened" as USLEEPMS06StartDay. This is in accordance to the global GameDaysPassed. Sometimes the USLEEPMS06StartDay variable will be a few hundred days above what your GameDaysPassed variable is. I have no clue why, but if you're on pc, you can set the USLEEPMS06StartDay to the day following whatever GameDaysPassed is at, and then wait 24 hours, travel to the nearest hold, and I almost guarantee the courier will come.

You could have posted that in a new thread.
