Game Dies Whenever I Approach Four Skull Lookout - Need Help
As I am doing the Destruction Ritual Spell quest, I need to go over there in order to use the shock spell to unlock the spell from the Power of the Elements book. But as the title says, if I approach it, the game dies on me. To elaborate: throwing spells at it is fine, I have triggered the bandits that live in it and killed them by constantly chucking projectiles into the lookout, but if I cross a certain boundary I can't see, the game will instantly freeze and I have to force relog into my desktop profile because I can't see the Task Manager and Skyrim wants to hog everything and will not show anything else on my screen (barring Ctrl + Alt + Delete menu).

I'm stuck and I don't know why this keeps happening. If I need to, I'll post a list of the mods that I'm currently using, but I don't think it matters for the time being because I'm using small script things that do not impose heavy loads on the game.

This also happened to me. Could you post your mods?

However, I wasn't in the mood to interrupt my game so a simple fix is as follows:
Before crossing the boundary which causes the crash, open the console (tilde, ~) and type
coc FourSkullLookoutExterior01
This will teleport you directly in front of the entrance. The game does not crash from here in, so do the ritual, and then fast travel out.

RE task manager, if you can't see it, you should use the keys:
Ctrl+Shift+Esc (open task manager)
skyrim (or s, or sk, etc. so the skyim process is selected)
alt-E (for end task)
Enter

The only overlap I have with you is the unofficial skyrim patch, run for your lives, when vampires attack, and the achievement mod enabler. I have a feeling this would most likely be a vanilla and/or unofficial patch bug.

In any case, once you've worked around it, there's no reason to visit again.

Yeah, i followed your advice to coc myself to four skull lookout and was able to complete the spell to learn Fiee Storm. Worked nicely and hopefully i will not have to go back there.

So I could NOT coc to the location. HOWEVER:

For anyone still looking for a fix for this: The bug is (currently) related to the Skyrim Special Edition Skript Extender. To fix it you need to remove ALL files associated to the Script Extender. Once you do that, you will be able to run into any "crash areas". Make sure to remove all mods, also, if you still want to get achievements. Afterwards you can put everything back.

Based on their mod list, they did not have skse64, and skse64 only went into alpha recently if I am not mistaken. They were also able to use script movement to get there without ctding.

Your information may be relevent to some other posts I have seen since I started playing sse, but this is not one of them.
