Killed Mogrul In Raven Rock.....But He Showed Up In Riften!

I completed the quest in Raven Rock to either pay Mogrul or kill him. I had high Sneak and Muffle Spell. So, I succeeded in sniping him from a distance. No bounty. Then about 3 levels later, I head to Riften to get married,,,,and guess who I see walking down the steps from Mistveil Keep? Yep. In the flesh. So I killed him. Again. Weird thing is....he was dressed in Dawnguard Armour. Now, I had just fast traveled from there. Has anybody else experienced dead characters appearing all of a sudden? Very odd.

EDIT: Ok, this is odd. I did some searching, and it turns out that there's another Mogrul in Fort Dawnguard. Huh? How can there be two Mogruls? Anyway, I am going to go back a save and not kill him. Wonder how he got to Riften?

I just killed him and paid the 5 gold fine

Checked to since I was curiusl.
One Orc Mogrul and one Dark Elf Mogrul.

But the Orc was marked essential. So how did you kill him?

Err he isn't essential I killed him too in Raven Rock I suspect he loses his essential status after he extorts you.

Maybe. I did not check his scripts and things in CK. But he is marked essential there.

He isn't essential once you start the quest. Killing Mogrul made the redoran guard attack, no bounty no way of solving - tried leaving and coming back. So reloaded went to the retching netch used console setav aggression 3, ran outside and he attacked splitter who killed him LMAO. went back in, looted the corpse, no one cared. Dumped his clothes elsewhere
I don't use the console normally but tried everything else.

Mogrul from Raven Rock? He's never getting paid lol!
His spurratic attacks keep things interesting but I'm above his weight division. That and I haven't been able to bring myself to off him yet.

He is essential at first. After you get Neloth's new steward (who owes Mogrul money) he becomes killable. He will approach y ou the next time you get to Raven Rock, but he won't aggro. If you're not sure you can sneak him, watch for him to notice you then slowly walk out of town to the abandoned farmhouse, and take him out from sneak, out there.

I wish there was a way to walk into the town hall and pre-pay the bounty, so they all know what you're about to do, then crisp his sorry extortionist ass right there in the center of town. Drop him in Glover's smelter and smelt him down into turd ingots.

I did him this way the second time I did this part. As he approaches you in Raven Rock I kept him following at a distance out of town, then attacked him and killed him. And his sidekick as well. No bounty. No witnesses.
