Skyrim CTD when changing race or gender.

I have a modded game and for whatever reason my game will CTD only when I try to change my gender or race in a new game. I have a relatively large load order which includes SKSE, FNIS, and XP32. I've never had problems with these mods before though so I doubt they are now.

If your game is crashing in character creation, and your game is heavily modded, you've almost certainly got a mod problem. The load order would help with diagnosis, though you might get useful information from LOOT and SSEEdit.

When you say change your race/gender in a new game, do you mean choosing them at the start? or are you using commands to change them?
Because using the commands to change the race/gender is known to cause CTDs

I am choosing them at the start.

Ok, so it's not commands, that's them eliminated.

So the next one is to post your load order, and see if people can see if anything is wrong.

You might try disabling the CC mod "254 FE 0 UHDAP - MusicHQ.esp". I know mods dealing with sound have had some issues in the past.

You can try 2 things. Wait longer before you start to fix and change your sex since you do have some mods that needs to start up.

Maybe it's something I missed, but I see a lot of UNPB clothes and armors but I didn't see the body, skin textures, or CBBE (normal with pure textures, but this is a chargen issue)

Which body, and skin mods are you using?

There is also the question, have you cleaned the masters?

Being new to modding and not yet understand the workings of loot, and with this long list of mods. I wonder if you have been following a good practice of modding.

Not trying to be critical, just curious.

New to modding + 137 mods.

Start small, do a bunch of test runs to make sure everything works, then add more.

If you've been running this list of mods and the issue is a recent one, you may have an SKSE-dependent mod that is not working with the latest SKSE.

Crashing at CharGen when you change the race and/or gender sounds like an issue with the body mod you're using. Mine used to crash when I scrolled to a specific hair using Apachii SkyHair in CharGen. Had to use a different version of the mod.

If you know you're going to select a specific race and gender, make a Player mod that sets the player as that Race and Gender from the start. I always play a female character (because CBBE) and got tired of the long wait time switching from the default male, so I set it up so I start as a Female Nord.
