Neloth has disappeared

I started The Path of Knowledge quest early in my new game and I ended up leaving it alone to complete later, now I'm ready to finish it Neloth is nowhere at all, I've waited in his house for weeks and I've tried all the suggestions I found on google and nothings worked, has anyone gone through this before?

Have you checked the standing stone near Raven Rock?

sorry to resurrect an old thread, but it happened to me too. i found him, at the crushed house near the abandoned prison near windhelm. how the f? im on an xbox one, how do i get him back to the dwarven ruins in solstheim?

Long dead thread I know, but I felt I'd share this anyway for anyone else whose a supreme gigachad and decided to play Skyrim in 2021, as I had experienced the problem just now.

If you're on PC and are having this problem, a solution I found after mucking about a bit was to simply do this:
1. Open console with `
2. "Do prid 040177da"
3. After that, you'd have more-or-less highlighted his refID in the console. From there, type "moveto player" in the console.

From there, he'll teleport to you and will make way to the structure. So long as he isn't clear off-path. I don't have Skyrim on the Xbox or the PS4, so I know of no solutions doing it on there.

When he has disappeared on me I just go to Nchardak and he is there waiting for me as if he fast traveled there, when I always have to run there as that is the only time I ever go there. If you still don't see him he will appear when you start fighting the Reavers you find outside.

I started the path of knowledge quest after finishing dragonbourne and i had to fast travel to my house to deposit loot and when i cam back to Nchardak to continue my quest “ the path of knowledge “ neloth was no where to be found and you need him to open the door , so i checked all his spawn locations but how i found him was using the Clairvoyance spell / shout thing and it lead me to neloth stuck in the water under the fallen structures ! Hope this helps
